I got a trade offer for some 33s on 15" steelies and I'm running 32s on 17" aluminum wheels. I have a 2" lift and they clear fenders well

. What should I be doing to compare mine and his to see if his wheels and tires will work on my rig.

They'll work as long as they are the same bolt pattern. However, you're going to be a little pressed for space at 2" and 33". I ran 2.5" of lift and 33" tires for a while. It needed about an inch more to be okay, but it worked just fine for the few months I ran it like that.

I guess i misunderstood the guy and he just wanted to trade wheels, not tires....oh well

Oh, I gotcha! Find out what the backspacing and lug pattern is on them. That's what you need to know!

EDIT: Maybe I'm confused here... You want to trade your 17" wheels for 15" wheels?

yeah, but I was hoping it would work and that I would get the tires in the trade but it ain't gonna happen. some day, I'd like to switch to 15s so I get more volume for airing down.

You're right, 15" wheels would be much better for airing down, as well as for tire selection also. I think you'd be much happier with 15" wheels if you can get them someday.

Cragar steel wheels are pretty inexpensive, I think I got a set of 5 new from discount tire for around $220 a couple years ago. Just go online and find a major retailer (summit, jegs, etc) with the best price and they will price match. It'll cost local tax but save on shipping.

Your bolt pattern should be 5 on 4.5, and a 15x8 rim with 4" backspace would work really well with 32 or 33"s.
