Tom suggests adding Dexron to prevent foaming and overfilling the rear diff when the pinion is pointed upward for a CV shaft so the pinion stays lubricated better.

Anybody know about this? I'm up for it if it's necassary.

Never heard of that. After seeing videos shot through a clear differential cover on how the ring gear thoroughly churns the gear lube up and heaves it around toward the pinion bearing, I sure don't see how there could be any difference in foaming with/without the pinion pointed up for a CV driveshaft. As much as I respect Tom Wood, I'm not going to be adding Dexron (is that even available separately?) to my gear lube.

Did Tom tell you that personally or is that on his website somewhere?

I would never add that. I used to do this to fill it properly.

He is talking about the Dexron mercon transmission fluid I believe... Adding like a cup but it's pretty weird but I'm just wondering about the value of overfilling the differential for an upward pointed pinion.

Thanks not trying to reinvent the wheel just trying to listen to people smarter than me. Which means I have to listen to everybody.
