LJ Rubicon purchase advice

When looking at a TJ Unlimited Rubicon remember it is a collectors item and in original unmolested condition it is going to bring a premium.

2005 will have the first year premium value.

Factory Hard top and Automatic trans, the production numbers go way down.

Color will be a factor Black and Silver are the most common, the rarest colors are Lime Green followed by Solar Yellow.

A 2005 stock Lime Green Rubicon with HT and AT trans is worth more than its original sticker price.

Remember it is only original once, everything you do to it will in the end lower its value.

Collectors item?

Thanks for all your replies. $17000- 19000 feels about right but it is a collectors item and I think they will become harder to find. Color is light khaki metallic. I’ve even seen some around here asking $20k for a LJR with 180k miles and salvage title which is absolutely nuts. . I’ve also seen quite a few Non rubicon LJs for between $15000-$17000 with 70-120k miles. I really like this one and it is rust free. But at the price they’re asking I’m on the fence. Perhaps prices will come down when the new car market stabilizes.

Just go ahead and buy it. They aren’t making any more of them. You won’t regret it and we have all payed a little too much for something every now and then. You can’t take the money with you but that Jeep is a collectible and a great platform for a build. Once you have about $50k in it, then you can complain a little. LOl

o_O🤪 You are so misguided if you believe that.
p.s. Apparently you've never tried to sell an electric lime green Jeep.

A vehicle is worth whatever the sale price is.

I tend to lean toward " it's worth what the market will bear".

If I shell out over 20 k for an LJR , it's going to be under 50,000 miles and garage kept, auto and either stock or built where it works right.

Also, mileage isn't the ultimate guide...my 03 with 20,000 miles was roached underneath...every bushing under it except the body mounts needed replaced.

I've also seen ones with quite a few miles pretty solid.

Do due diligence.

If you’re looking for something hard to find, there’s only going to be so many good to great opportunities and they all take time. I guess it boils down to just how picky a person is as far as what they’re willing to spend or wait for.

Was actually thinking about ya man...just came through Hotlanta.

They (good ones) really are getting harder to find....our specialty TJ dealer in North Alabama now carries mostly JKs.

It's a hard call...buy or wait sometimes. Usually it's the quick and the dead on good ones.

$21k is about normal around here from what I've seen.. much below that and you better look real close for what's wrong.

I want to get new gears for my 33s/42rle. Then we’ll make a run and meet up sometime.
