Mirrors with no doors?

Good call on the Harley mirrors... I could just use the mirrors off my Harley, didn't even think about that!

Zhillslady thats crazy 34 cops

tell me about it - our pop even with northern residents which is like half the city is around 14,000 people and the police annual budget is just over 3 million dollars. Every city employee also gets a $600 Christmas bonus which I think that is nice but that police department budget is insane. Positive note - if you call they arrive in less than 2 minutes.

I like the mirrors that fit into the stock door hinges the best. It's just one less thing to hassle with IMHO.

Sure...they are the only thing muddy in this photo though. I washed it with the doors on. Keep in mind you have to take them on and off to install doors. Takes less than 1 minute though.

I like those Harley mirrors! Great idea.

Response time around here runs to a couple of hours or so. Well, outside the city limits anyway. Not much crime to speak of. I wonder if there is a correlation in there someplace?

There is a guy in my area that took the 4" fish eyes and mounted at the top corner of the windshield on both sides. He loves them because they don't take damage when trail riding.

Depending on what state you live in you may not be required to have side mirrors. There is a 130 degree rear view mirror that clips on your existing rear view that lets you see everything... I think it was around $30... great investment even if you put side mirrors on.

I'm using a pair of Cj-style mirrors ($25 from Quadratec), permanently mounted on the windshield hinge. Nothing to move or install when I take the doors off. They are designed to mount to the upper hinge but I found that in that position they would block my view of pedestrians and traffic turning in front of me. I made new brackets to mount them on the lower hinge and that is working out really well. They do vibrate a bit at speed, but I'm an old CJ driver and I'm used to it -after all, I'm not trying to read a novel with them.

Thinking about getting the quick release version. It mounts in the same place you've got yours so I assume they will give similar results. How do you like them? Do they move out of alignment at speed? I'm regularly on the highway doing 70+. Also how is the view with the doors on and off. I wanna make sure I can see both mirrors and see fairly well. Also can you post some more pictures?

I'm pretty happy with my mirrors, Luke. I have had them move at speed, but tightening the hardware solved that issue. If the mirror head that you are looking at is the same as mine there are 3 screws that tighten the grip on the ball, which is where I had movement. I can also tighten the bolt at the hinge mount, although I'm not sure how that would work with the quick release setup. As for visibility, obviously both sides are fine with the doors off. Doors on, the driver's side is fine but I do lose a small slice on the passenger side (see below). Not enough to be a problem for me, you might see it differently. I'm thinking of adding a round convex mirror in the lower outboard corner of both mirrors, just in case.

That's good, I know with some alternatives, you cannot see the passenger side mirror at all. Do you have any picture of the whole Jeep?
