Hi guys,
I’m new to owning a Jeep Tj. Mine is an 04 sport, I love the car but the tyres and wheel feel a little pokey so I decided it was time for a upgrade.
I confused myself originally with metric conversions and ordered a 31.6 inch on a 16 inch rim. Tried one on the jeep and they just looked too big for me.
now after research Iv finally decided I want a 17 inch jk rim on a tyre set up that doesn’t look too big. I liked the look of the 245/75r16 rubicon tyre, if I went for a 245/70r17 will it fit and look like rubicon wheel and tyres? The tire diameters on both of these measure up pretty even.
thanks

Personally I like 235/75/15,s on my TJ they just seem right to me! I believe being in the UK you are possibly changing for aesthetics? or maybe doing an occasional winter Highlands Haggis Hunt? :)

Welcome Michaelg1991 !

Sharp TJ , A lot of what we all do is based on " The Look".
Though few would admit it;).
My mom's family came to Colorado from Cornwall, all
hardrock miners.
You will like this forum!, ( even if we will have the Tyre vs. Tire thing going on ):ROFLMAO:

Thanks mate. Yes love Cornwall a very pretty part of the UK. 😂😂
Funny you say that because in the UK there is a big craze for restoring land rover defenders. I do feel like at this current time the uk market hasn’t quite exploited jeeps just yet but it will come :)

After spending hours searching this forum I came to the conclusion that load range C was important, that translates roughly to 106 metric load range.
Instead of buying my favourite BFG KO2's in 265/75/16 I ended up with - Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 245/70 R16 T 106

Driving it for the first time it was jittery so I dropped the pressure to 26psi as advised here and was amazed at the difference.
The tyres didn't fill the arches as much as I wanted (they're 29.5") but the Wrangler rides and handles as well as any SWB 4x4 with a separate chassis.

I like to keep these American chaps on their toes by using correct (English) spellings and terminology (chassis not frame) at all times:cool:🇬🇧
