Hello,

The passenger door handle on my 02 tj has recently become loose (see pics). While it still works to open the door, it just pops in and out. Does anyone have an idea what is going on, or has anyone has similar problems? I wanted to ask before I start opening stuff up to see if anyone already knows what is going on.

Thanks for the help!

Looks like you are missing the handle keepers. They fit between the inside door and the clip in your photo. Gotta take the interior door panel off. The keeper might be sitting in the bottom of your door.

Here's a pic of how it needs to be except you push the handle in first and install the keeper key from the inside.

Good pic. And they are kinda a pain in the ass to get into place. Once in place, push on the outside of the handle against the door compressing the rubber gasket as much as you can, and push the slider into place. This will give you a tight seal between the handle and the door. I had to replace the gaskets on my TJ. I bought some rubber material from Grainger and cut my own. Good fit.

I'll add that they are much easier to install with the door off and laying flat on a bench or table.
