Hello all,

thought I would create a post here to not only track my own spending and upgrades but also show off and get some input on next steps from the community. So originally bought this 2000 Jeep TJ Sport from a friend for $5000 in August 2020 below are pics from the friend when going through the buying process. My idea for the build is I wanted this Jeep to be both a decent daily driver and light to moderate off road rig while also staying relatively affordable. Ideally just want 31-33 inch tires with a 2.5 inch lift and doing as much of the installation work myself as possible. For context, this is my first Jeep or 4x4 vehicle so I have no frame of reference to compare it to which is maybe a good thing?

Friend's dad owns the car lot where the Jeep was originally sold in Brownsville, TX in September 1999 with 6 miles on the dash and that's where it stayed until it was traded in to the same lot and was given to my friend in April 2019 with 138,772 miles. From there it moved to San Antonio, TX and my friend drove it about 7k miles before selling it to me with 145k on the dash.

I believe it has a Dana 35 in the back and 30 in the front, 4.0 Liter engine, 32RH automatic transmission, AC, dual top, 17 inch wheels, and 31 inch tires (I was originally under the impression the tires were 29 inches but quickly learned I was reading tire measurements wrong). Previous owners had done literally 0 modifications to the car besides putting in an aftermarket stereo head unit. I could tell the hardtop had never been taken off and the soft top never used because the soft top was still packaged in the trunk like it was when it came out the factory.

On the positive side its a blank slate and I am not correcting any previous errors or trying to sort through what mods were done already. On the negative side - it seemed this car was minimally taken care of and a lot of stock components were/are starting to go bad so I will have to make up for the neglect it's been through.

I got maybe about 100 miles and 2 weeks of getting to drive my new (to me) car till things started going south and getting expensive... (to be continued)
