FAA want airlines to weigh your fat ass

I've been saying this for years. Weight is king, how the hell can a company accurately charge for air transportation when they don't know how much something weighs?

The last thing you want is a bunch of fat folks all sitting in the back when the pilot rotates.

We skinny guys should get a discount.

Yeah that's pretty much why I've been bitching about it for so long. We weigh less to ship, easy math. If we were dead & had to be flown across the country I bet UPS would weigh the casket & charge accordingly.
I usually fly in the wider seats anyhow.

Americans average weight has increased by at least 30 lbs in the last 35 years. Guessing all they will do is have everyone cross an inconspicuous loadcell to get an accurate average passenger weight for the airline/FAA and ensure their weight and balance calcs for the flight are accurate.

What I wish the airlines would do is just raise prices and widen the seats. Give people space. Or as a very last resort make people who can't fit within the confines of their seat pay for and occupy two so they don't spill onto their neighbors. I'm don't know how they would police that though. It's not like they would ever make people sit and fit in a box like a carry on luggage check.

I had to do this on a flight from Bali to Flores. They weighed everyone with their luggage. They then sat you accordingly in the cabin. This was 10+ years ago.

Worked for an airline for many years. Occasionally, we had to weigh each passenger and arrange the cabin according to that weight. Usually a hot day with a heavily loaded aircraft pushing the take off limits. Makes people so happy to step on a scale in front of 100 strangers.

When I fly commercial I feel like I might as well be in a cardboard box. I’d much rather fly mil air on a C-130. Cold, loud as fuck, but you just walk up a ramp, throw your shit in a net, grab a seat wherever, & put in some foamies. Knife & all.

I'd be happy if they'd simply remove the overhead bins. Only carryon allowed *MUST* fit under the seat in front of you, the rest of it fucking gets checked. You could load and unload a plane in 5 minutes.
