Hey everyone,

Trying to sell my 1997 Jeep Wrangler SE with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine and a manual transmission. It spent about 10 years on a ranch in Big Bear, and then 10 more years with my uncle in Big Bear. It sat for about 5 years without running (he gave up driving) before I picked it up and got it back on the road. This was the first year of the TJ, and this Jeep was the base model version. As in zero options.

Since the interior had gotten into pretty poor shape, I ended up taking out everything, and cleaning it. I removed, cleaned and painted the dash and door cards and center console. Fresh carpet and shift boots, and installed cloth seats from a Sahara. There is no back seat

The exterior paint is in poor shape, especially clear coat peel on the hood. The full doors are not original and the green paint is not an exact match. The fender flares were sanded and painted. Body has no dents but some trail scratching. Heavy duty hood latch to prevent hood flutter.

The jeep has air-conditioning retrofitted (from Jeep Air). I couldn’t handle the desert without A/C. During installation, the entire dash came out and was cleaned. Heat and blower motor work fine.

Soft top is new “sprint top” from Bestop. You can flip the top easily and drive with the roof open. Vinyl windows are tinted with very light scratches.

Tires are excellent. Falken WildPeak 30”. Speedo gears changed to read correctly. Upgraded to alloy wheels. Front brakes have new rotors and pads. Stops without pulling or shuddering.

Shocks are new (quadratec), steering stabilizer shock is new. No lift. Has Poison Spyder front diff skid plate and steering box protector.

Replaced AM/FM radio with Bluetooth CD marine radio. Replaced speakers in sound bar and dash. Don’t expect miracles.

Spark plugs and coil are new. New battery, new fuel injectors and fuel pump replaced. New water pump, fan clutch, heater and radiator hoses. Belts replaced, radiator flushed. New muffler. New Crankshaft seal. Diff fluid replaced front and rear. Transfer case fluid replaced. New headlights and headlight switch. No vac leaks.

Clutch and shifting are good, 4WD hi and Lo work fine.

Requires a few seconds of cranking to start. Apparently, this is common with TJ’s.

Smog check passed two months ago. Charcoal cannister and purge valve redone.

Title is clean.

This is the four-cylinder jeep, so don’t expect a lot of power, especially on the freeway. It great off-road, as the engine has plenty of torque. I used it for camping and desert exploring over the last three years, and put about 15k miles on it. It’s been super fun and I’ll be sad to see it go. Selling to buy something bigger.
