Can anyone recommend a bike rack that fits in the rear 2" receiver and clears the spare tire? I only need to carry tow bikes.

I do not want a carrier that attaches to the spare.

Thanks,

Most 2" receiver racks will work. You just need to spend the extra coin for an extension. Even with that added expense it'll still be cheaper than a 1up. You often get what you pay for, though. I mean 1ups are aluminum so for the fanboys of every ounce counts....

I’m also running a OneUp with a Warn bumper with the receiver built in. By itself, the rack clears the spare but barely. I have to make sure the pedal is centered in the spare to mount my bike and even so, the rack cannot be mounted too deep. This year, I added the OneUp extension and now it is perfect. The extension bolts down so there is no wobble and I can fold the rack up. Not cheap but works and looks great.

I just completed a 6000 mile journey with my North shore rack with no issues. It’s a MTB only rack and the bikes hang vertically. The come in 2,4,and 6

designed so well Yakima tried to copy it.

Yakima Backswing with whatever.

I have the Allen one as well. Coupled with a hitch extender from Harbor Freight and it easily clears the spare.

I have a kuat, it cleared the tire with my dirtworx but wouldn’t fold up. Given the chance I probably would have done a 1up but between gift cards and the annual member discount at REI there was no better deal when I needed mine.

This one meets all your requirements. I have the 4-bike. This is the same version but 2-bike. It clears a 33x12.5 spare easily, folds up, tilts down, and locks. Plus, the bikes sit rather than hang, which is my preference. We’ve used it without issue for 2 years 3 months.

I've had the Rocky Mounts 2" Monorail for 3 years and its been great. Comparable quality to the other top brands. When closed it is TIGHT against the stock spare. I got it for $300 at the time, they are $500 now.

If I were to buy one right now Thule, Yakima & Kuat would be in the mix. They all have their own spin but are high quality & replacement parts are easy to get.

No matter the brand, get a cradle carrier and not one that hangs. You'll also need one that pivots downward so you can open the rear hatch so keep that in mind
