Hello all from Northern California out in the burnt sticks. I just got my first Jeep. 2000 Sahara, 44,000 miles on it. I've sort of always wanted a Jeep but I always had too many excuses about why I shouldn't get one. Finally said screw it, went shopping for about a month and found a good one. Basically got it as a back woods, off road vehicle, not a street cruiser.

This particular Jeep has gone through 3 owners now with kind of a weird history. Supposedly the original owner had it from 2000-2021, and during 2012 he just parked it, put it on non-op and never drove it (The carfax mirrors this). He sold it to a guy in April of this year, who then spent about 2,000 on suspension work, another 1k on tires, and then decided he wanted to sell his property and Jeep due to all the fires, so I got it from him. It runs well, no wobble on the road.

It's missing the rear seat and seat belts so I need to find those, and it's got an ARB locker system which I don't quite understand yet. I'm also not sure when the last time the fluids have been changed out. Previous owner had the oil done but i'm assuming it sat for 12 years and the transmission, diff, and coolant were never changed so i'm probably going to do that next. It also has what I feel is excessive wind noise from the front of the hard top so I'd like to see if I can fix that.

Got a few dents on it, the only one that bugs me is the one on the a-pillar window trim. The fenders I might just slap some diamond plate over, or just buy a new fender and paint it myself.

Overall happy with the Jeep and excited to start messing around with it!

I’ll ban you if you put diamond plate on that thing 😆

Kidding of course, but please don’t do it. Nothing looks trashier than diamond plate on a Jeep.

That’s a mighty fine looking Jeep too 👍

Ha note taken (y)
I'm leaning towards the replacement fender anyway. Seems very modular and easy to replace body panels on these.

That would be the approach I would take. The fenders are very easily replaced.

You can find the rear seats on a eBay, but shipping can be a bit pricey. Replacing the fenders is the way to go. I cringe when I see diamond plate in high rust areas, because I know it's a jacked up fix.

Here's a picture of my Jeep -

And my Land Rover -

I'm the second owner of both vehicles.
I think that the chap who ordered the Jeep had more taste than the Land Rovers' first owner.
Forget the Chequer plate (when will you chaps learn the correct terms?) do it properly 🇬🇧 (y)

Welcome from another scorched NorCal Jeeper. My daughter lives in Chico, so we visit that area on occasion. I bet you can get most of that dent out on that right flare with a heat gun.

Welcome! I’m in Yuba City. Still working on my Jeep. It’s an X with 3.07 gears and no lockers at the moment so limited in what I can do.

Would love to meet up and go do some trails though.
