Hello all. Long time Jeeper, been on other forums before, but I just signed up here yesterday and I already have a question. I wonder if anyone can help me identify my shocks. I don't know what brand they are. I have searched - this forum, major brands websites, etc., but none of the numbers stamped into the tubes comes up. Maybe one of you will recognize. The fronts say 5349 and X162G3, the rears show a 5243 and X257G3. Do those numbers look familiar to anyone? Thanks in advance!

If they are white, ride like shit and have a 5xxx part number they might be Rancho?
They are white, made in Mexico, I have checked Rancho but those part numbers don't come up. And Rancho shocks for my application mostly have 5-digit part numbers. These are only maybe 8 years old so I wouldn't think they would be defunct numbers.
I was thinking Deutsch Tech, but those numbers don't match up either. The search continues...

Well we don't want that!

I think that shock is on a totally different vehicle, the funny marks at the weld and the indent near the loop match so I think it's the same shock type. Personally I'd call Rancho if I was dying to know what the shock was but you should probably just measure and get new ones instead of trusting somebody else did it right.

Black Max from Skyjacker are getting good reviews, might look into those as well. I figured when you started this thread it was because of the whole ride like shit thing.

Yup. Been living with it for about 6 years but it's getting annoying and the family doesn't care for it. Now, it does have load range E KM2s on it also which has to be a major contributor, but I have a path forward for that. I'll look into the Black Max. Thanks!

Lower your pressure to about 26 psi will help some

Update: Despite a few discrepancies it does appear that these are old Rancho 5000's. I couldn't find length data online so I pulled them off and measured, then matched them up against the RS5000X version and they're very close. Mine are not gas charged, but different sources seem to disagree about that on the 5000s. What I did notice was one front shock was nearly impossible to extend, so it's time for new ones either way. And one thing I know for sure is that they're not Skyjacker Black MAX, so that's what I ordered. We'll see how that turns out pretty soon. Thanks for the help!
