The rear door on my 1997 TJ is very hard to close. The space between the door metal and the frame metal is so tight, I can not get any lube in there. Any help is appreciated.

Spray the hinges liberally with an aerosol white lithium grease. It'll work its way inside when you swing the tailgate back & forth.

I've had good luck using silicone spray on the hinges which is a little lighter than white lithium grease. I also drilled a small hole in each hinge for better lube access.

did the same thing on my last 97 except drilled the hole up a little higher so the lube would flow down. before i did it i could barely get the tailgate to open, i'm talking grab it with both hands and pull with all ya got, after drilling it would swing right open....

I drilled the hinges and use a needle adapter on my grease gun to force grease into the hinge.
