My Nissen's is at 13+ years and must be somewhere around 100k miles

Heater control not working (just hot)

There's a drain tube that exits the firewall on the passenger side. If the heater core is leaking it should drain out of there if the leak is big enough. You should also see the coolant level dropping in the overflow tank if you have a leak anywhere.

Heater control not working (just hot)

Yes, heater core is a dash out job. The RHD heater core is a mirror image of the early LHD heater core. I don't know if there are any RHD aftermarket heater cores available. I paid £280 for a genuine one several years ago from a Jeep Dealership. That was with a discount too, as a friend's son...

Heater control not working (just hot)

Cleaning the motor may have worked so it was worth a try. If you have a multi-meter to check the connector. The dark blue/white wire is ground, orange is ignition switched 12V. The third yellow wire should vary in voltage as the temp knob is adjusted.

Does the multi-functional switch control the brake lights?

With that damage the piece that keeps those two terminals in place is missing. It may mean the contacts could be pushed back by the pins causing a loose or bad connection. There is a repair kit available so you could replace the plastic part and maybe replace the two terminals where the damage...

Heater control not working (just hot)

It may be a stepper motor, and need multiple pulses to move it a fraction at a time, based on the input to the motor from the variable resistance at the temp switch. I'd try cleaning it and plugging it in to the connector to see if it moves with ignition on and changing temp knob.

Heater control not working (just hot)

Looks like the amazon one should fit. Might be worth opening your old one up and giving it a clean first. It may be that it's gears are just gummed up with old dried up grease. The wiring to it isn't shown in the 06 FSM, but based on the 05 the power comes from fuse 8 behind the glove box...

    Unusable Interior Lights

That pink/white wire should be the output for the IOD fuse, #17 (10A). The IOD fuse supplies under hood and courtesy lamps, OBD port, and radio/dash/PCM for memory retention. My gauges do not work if the IOD fuse is removed. If your radio and gauges work/trip odo doesn't reset on ignition off...

Does the multi-functional switch control the brake lights?

Switched to my laptop now, so I have access to the 01 FSM. As in the 06 wiring diagram above the feed from the brake lamp switch goes to pin 1 of the multi-function switch on a white/tan wire. You should have 12V there when the brake pedal is pressed. If you don't have 12V at the white/tan wire...

Does the multi-functional switch control the brake lights?

The third brake lamp is fed directly from the brake lamp switch. You need to check if you are getting the feed to the multi-function switch from the brake pedal. If you are the continuity of the switch can be checked.

    Heater problem: any advice?

The motor that drives the heat control door in HVAC housing can gum up and not move properly. They can be cleaned and regreased or replaced if they are a problem. I'm not sure how you remove them as I have the early cable operated heat door.

New steering gear box is super stiff

I've had a sticking valve cause loss of power steering at idle rpm. If the wheels won't turn at idle, will they turn with raised engine speed?

Help Identify Leak from above skid plate

There should be a red tinge to transmission case fluid which is ATF. Any ATF can be used to refill or top up if it needs it. Transmission fluid could vary in colour. Transmission oil can vary upon owner preference, and on early or late model boxes which are different. Easiest way to see if the...

Help Identify Leak from above skid plate

Somewhere above that mount on the exhaust side there is a weep hole near where the transmission and transfer case bolt up. Either the transmission output seal is leaking, or the transfer case input seal. In a manual you should be able to see a difference in the fluid to establish which is...

    Fog Light Switch?

The fog lights are connected via the normally closed contacts of the relay. The power goes from the headlamp switch, through those contacts to the fog lamps. The relay is used to turn the fog lamps off when the high beam is on. When the high beam is activated the cluster activates the relay...

Help with gear pattern and next steps

Still too shallow. Pinion needs moving closer to the ring gear. I've only done one rebuild myself so I can't give an idea how many thou extra you need to add to the pinion.

    Is Throttle Position14%-78%WOT Normal Range??

Completely normal. My ScangaugeII shows mine as 14 - 76%. I guess if it sees close to 0 or 100 it knows the wires are shorted to ground or voltage respectively, which could help diagnose issues.
