    Freedom Eagle

2” risers installed on both TJ and LJ from https://buchananprecisionmachine.com/t/jeep-seat-riser-lift-kits. Nice solid aluminum instead of plastic like other options. I may look at swapping the front posts on each seat with 1.5” risers instead to angle the seat a little more for better back...

    Freedom Eagle

FINALLY got the TJ back today. 3 months.... Lots of problems with the shop, much of it due to their own internal struggles. Things finally got ironed out. Unfortunately it destroyed my fall, but I had house work anyway. It all started with a re-gear due to an unfortunate accident with a...

Sure wish I had one like it. I would be happy with just a 16x24 garage at this point.

The Old Man Jeep (a '06 LJ build)

The Lj has been pulling double duty of grocery getter and work rig while the TJ still remains in the shop My my friend gifted me his camping trailer since he upgraded so this project will start soon. And I took advantage of a good sale!!

Transfer case shifter linkage - 42RLE

That's the transmission side bushing. I'm pretty sure the shifter cable side is a different size. Here, look at the cable. It comes pre-installed. Theres a red box around it. You can see the transmission one on the other side of the cable. It is white. The shifter side one is black.

Transfer case shifter linkage - 42RLE

Its fairly common for the linkage to detach on the transmission side due to the little plastic retainer breaking and crumbling. However it does not seem to be the same size or type as the retainer that connects the linkage to the shifter in the cab. Does anyone have a source or part number? I...

    Injury from soft shackle failure

Its a shame so many old grumps on here insist on being a jerk instead of actually having good conversation.

The Old Man Jeep (a '06 LJ build)

Finally got around to installing Quadratechs trailer connection. Most of these, while plug and play, still have you drill a hole in the body for the ground. Not wanting to do this I opted instead to run the wire through the tail light housing and ground it there with the other lights...

    Freedom Eagle

Man what an ordeal lately. Something has been getting very noisy. So bad I didnt' even want to drive it. So took it to the only off road shop in town to diagnose what I thought was a botched gear repair from a couple years ago due to a local shop forgetting to put gear oil back in the rear...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

I'll have to double check. Not that it's' a big deal since springs will be replaced anyway but now I'm curious.

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

You mean the springs sagging? I measured them the other day and they were the generally used height for a stock spring. But I do agree the lower amount of travel is likely part of the problem. I can try checking again next weekend.

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

On the LJ, whatever is stock. It has stock everything, even the original shocks with stickers (kinda cool they're holding on). That said though I dont know, with stock components, if the shocks allow full compression without bottoming out themselves. It will be receiving a 2-2.5" lift...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

Well the progressive bump stops worked amazing on my Gladiator and did exactly what I was looking for without dropping 5g’s on shocks. I do not got fast in the woods, unless there is an emergency which does happen during fire season. Even just the county roads have posted limits that are far...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

Well that was the suggestion in other threads when I said point blank it is not an option for me. So what would you suggest then? Yes 'sort out shocks'. Ok, so be specific, what does that mean? We know about shock lengths already. What else will prevent metal on metal contact? Will the...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

Definitely not driving too fast all the time. I go pretty slow due to my brain injuries and wanting to see things without getting overly dizzy. Have you never ever in your life experienced the 'oops that was a bigger dip than expected' situation? Saying the shocks are the sole purpose for...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

How is a shock going to prevent bottoming out where there is metal on metal contact, without the shock being super crazy stiff? If the point of measuring compressed suspension length is to prevent the shock from being what bottoms out first, then what is going to prevent the harshness of the...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

This is exactly what I'm going for. Ok, so what's the solution with this then so I can prepare properly as the LJ gets lifted a small amount.

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

Yeah but I dont want stiff shocks. I want soft shocks, my body needs it. I have stiff shocks on the TJ currently, and they need a rebuild. It is a terrible ride. The Gladiator had fairly stiff shocks, granted it was a lot heavier as well. And it still hit the bumps frequently. I did not...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

Yeah I know lengths need to be measure for sure, just waiting to get nee springs first before I can do that accurately.

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

Hitting bumps is a situation experience very frequently. In any vehicle really. Taking dad out for a cruise in his truck yesterday we were constantly hitting the bump stops. In the Gladiator when I was running the standard springs (and they were overloaded) I hit the bumps ALL the time. Once...
