    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

This is part of my reasoning. I dont really want the steel cup touching the the axle pad. That makes for a jarring harsh hit no matter the situation. If you expect the shocks to prevent this from happening entirely then the shocks are going to be super stiff. This is helpful thank you. I...

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

I had progressive bump stops on my Gladiator and it was perfect for my use case. They were a poor mans version of something like this - https://www.quadratec.com/p/fox-racing-shox/front-2.0-ifp-bump-stops-wrangler-jl-883-02-167 I'm interested in softening up an unintended hard hit. Multiple...

    OME 2 Inch Lift

Definitely appreciated. Couldn't imagine living anywhere else, although the north cascades are pretty fantastic.

    SumoSprings vs. DuroSpring

Curious if anyone has had experience with either or both products and what the performances differences experienced were. SumoSprings are marketed as increasing load capacity - not my particular intent DuroSprings are marketed as decreasing jarring impacts of bump stops - more in line with my...

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

Thank you! Very helpful! The fact the rear window has to be shut after the tailgate, pretty much makes that a no go for me. That weird bit of back and forth sounds like it would get really old fast. I have the OEM tire carrier and dont plan on getting a bumper mounted one. My current...

    35s with 4.56 gears

Haven't seen this shared in a while so it should help visualize some things being discussed with gearing and RPM range. http://www.grimmjeeper.com/

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

I do like the extra interior height that is a benefit for sleeping in the cab. I think Gr8Tops added some additional fiberglass though for strength so I dont think the production version has the same amount of room as yours does. I'll have to ask again what the dynamic load rating is.

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

That's good to know. So can you confirm for me if the rear glass does or does not need to be shut after the tailgate is shut? Maybe you wouldn't mind measuring the side windows?

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

Do you know what the dynamic weight capacity is of the Gr8Tops production version? Yeah I have been looking even for truck canopy side opening glass windows but it's surprisingly difficult to get ahold of them. I think that would be the best option. But I haven't been able to source one yet...

    Thoughts on Optima batteries?

Is it actually the battery or maybe your fridge? I had a snow master fridge that now is in the basement as a freezer, it pulled significantly more power than advertised and quickly drained my battery doing the same thing - reaching the shutdown voltage. I now have an Engle and it's...

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

I remember following your original thread as you designed and built it, along with the dozens of prototype toppers for the dinoot tub you designed. Good to see you are still around and active on the forums!! My main concern with the Safari cap was the water intrusion and how well the sides...

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

The strength of the highlander is definitely something I would opt for. The idea/plan is that I can actually sleep inside the LJ with the seats fully forward. Obviously that only works for myself, not if I have company. It's a tough decision. The strength and opening side windows I...

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

I do like the side opening windows. But thanks for the clarification of the back glass. Looking at pictures it appeared like the seal was on the outside of the tailgate making it a tad confusing. I'll look at that thread, didnt know Jeff was roaming around here. Headed out for wildfire...

Definitely agree. Getting scaled is absolutely critical.

Hardtop Options: Gr8Tops Safari Top vs Bull Dawg Highlander

I am interested if anyone has personal experience with either of these tops. My LJ currently has a Gr8Tops half cab top and bulkhead but I am not a fan and need a full length hard top. Hard tops only - I have no interest in a soft top. Gr8Tops -...

    Spring recommendations?

That sounds like a terrible idea. I am only offering to the OP that there are other spring options if they are concerned about weight. Options outside of the box of the standard 4" lift are often overlooked especially on this forum. Nowhere did I suggest those as 'the' option. But because I...

    Spring recommendations?

Unless he cares more about proper weight ratings for his weight than lift. It is an option. Maybe other options might end up being the better option. But if OP never knows that a higher weight capacity spring exists then they would never even know in the first place. Had I known of other...

The Old Man Jeep (a '06 LJ build)

Not much going on since the TJ is in the shop for diff and axle rebuild. But did take the LJ out for a cruise to meet up with some veteran friends taking the risk without having installed a trans temp gauge yet. It was a fairly easy and slow drive. Saw some nice bighorn on the way home as well.

    Spring recommendations?

Yes oh holy one You apparently have zero capacity for comprehending what people say. I specifically did say that the lengths were NOT identified if they were loaded or unloaded. If you are so awesome and have so much useful information then maybe you should post a link to said spreadsheet...

    Spring recommendations?

OP specifically asked about a heavy weight spring. Not about lengths. But here you go. The same OME rear left, rear right, front left, front right lengths are 370, 355, 495, 485 mm respectively. Note that the OME rear spring information offered are "for" the LJ, can also be used on the TJ...
