I just went through this exact same problem with my 05 Rubicon, leaky heater core, replaced (by a shop I use because I have AC also) also replaced the AC evaporator since it was out. NO HEAT. Made sure blend door was functioning properly, no air in system, back to the shop. Pulled NEW heater...

Update...Replaced TPS connector and ran with no tywrap and the codes came back, reinstalled tywrap and cleared codes and has been good for over 5K miles with no codes.

or so I thought, it threw the codes again, and again...went ahead and replaced upstream O2 sensors and fuel pump for good measure, drove another 700 miles and it threw the codes AGAIN! Did a little more digging and found it could possibly be the TPS, found the lock for the TPS connector is...

Upgraded my instrument cluster with a new faceplate (that can be seen in the daylight).

Fuel pressure was a good steady 60 psi, Replaced MAP sensor, all is right in MY jeep world again! FIXED!!!

My 05 just threw these codes today (P0171 and P0174). Runs smooth, Idles smooth @around 700 rpm, I guess I need to check my fuel pressure, any other things to look out for?

My thoughts exactly, and since I just went over 100k miles, and I have just recently developed a clunking noise in the front end (but only when going over small bumps w/wheels straight) I figure I may as well change them AND my control arms.

I found the culprit, Ground (G105) located (on the 4.0 engine) on the right hand side of the block (aft of the oil filter) is the primary ground point for the PCM (at least that's what I see when looking at the FSM wiring diagram), anyhow it was starting to get what appeared to look like some...

I'm not getting a check engine light, just the code (and ammeter reading drops down to approx 13.5V), but only when checking using the key on-off-on-off-on method, code doesn't show up when using an OBD-2 code scanner.

No I didn't, I used a BWD (p/n BTS13) from O'Reilly.

Thanks Chris, I also found this on another forum and it is my next step, but considering that I also keep getting an code (P0517 Battery temp sensor) that also comes from the PCM (and have already replaced the sensor) I'm almost convinced it's a bad PCM. But I will eliminate all other...

Well, to make a long story short, stealership seems to think it's a bad instrument cluster, me personally I'm leaning more towards a PCM problem...other than the fact that I'm not getting a check engine light...I guess first I'll do a "HARD" reset on all electrical components and see if that...

Between 15.5 to 17mpg combined city/hwy as a daily driver, bone stock and just a little over 90k on the odometer.
