Georgia List of north Georgia area members who like to go off-roading

No issues this morning. Never lost power, but lost internet for a few hours last evening. Lots of big limbs down in the yard, and lots of damage to trees and bushes, but nothing too bad. Lots of trees down in the neighborhood. So not bad at all, but given the temperature forecast the ice is...

Georgia List of north Georgia area members who like to go off-roading

Lot's of ice this morning, and a few trees down in the neighborhood. We still have power, but hearing of nearby neighborhoods without. My daughter has no power. Yesterday was beautiful, today is nasty.

What did you do to / in your garage / shop today?

That’s really cool, Chili. That’s some crazy design skill. Meanwhile, in my shop I’m thrilled that I was able to design a jar to store axle seals…

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

Yesterday I corrected my bone-head cooler move with the stereo. Remember this? I did a bunch of research on a replacement head unit. The Kenwood DNX773S that I mangled was a top the line unit at the time I put it in back in '17. Everything worked great, and I really like the functionality...

Rear shock relocation options (besides outboard)

If the shock is the only issue, the simple answer is to get a properly sized shock to hold you over until you do your outboard. Those shocks are too long for that location, and resulting in your reduced uptravel. The lowered upper shock bracket is also contributing. But pay close attention to...

    Steering problems

What you are describing happening offroad - the steering fighting you after a few hours - sounds like a heat problem. You may or may not have other problems going on, possibly caused by overheating. Either way, a steering cooler will help.

    Mid-arm LJ Rubicon

Dude - you can do any damage that you want to the rest of the rig, but when you scratch the yellow…. 🙂 Looks like a cool trip. The rig is working well as usual.

What's wrong with the cheap China bumpers?

Well, no. If you get hit from behind, it’s generally the fault of the person coming up behind you. You can slam on your brakes (or slow to make a u-turn…) for no reason at all, and if the person coming up behind you has not left enough room to stop, it’s generally their fault.

    New to me 2006 TJ

A three link front definitely requires a track bar. I run the TNT steering box relo kit. It is a crazy amount of work for only an extra inch or two over what you can do with a stock box position, or just an easy relocation straight forward coupled with relocating the track bar. I would do it...

Utah BLM closing around 1/3rd of the trail miles near Moab

Definitely against. Their main position is that the closure is a federal overstep, and that these decisions should be left to the state / local governments.

Should I get a new oil pan?

And if not, the steel is usually easy to flatten out unless there is damage.

    Basic GMRS radio recommendations

I’m a big fan of the Midland MTX 275 or 575. The main unit is compact and can be mounted remotely out of sight. All the controls are in the mic. I run the older 275, but the 575 is more powerful. I’m always looking for a reason to switch, but the 275 has never let me down. Ditch the...

How bad is wheelspin on pavement?

Man, my tires suck. Every time I mash the loud pedal the damn things break loose. No traction! 😉
