    JL/JT Axle Swap Details

Control arms ordered from wide open design to solidify placement and start burning in mounts. Measured for 14” ORI’s down travel to clear the opposite side wheel well. I’m quite happy with where I’m at with the 4 link. Need to clear the tub with upper’s a bit but otherwise it’s coming alinf

    Looking for TJ seat recommendations

I’ve heard great things about mastercraft but could never get a hold of anyone there. Decided on PRP daily drivers, haven’t installed them yet but they appear well made.

    JL/JT Axle Swap Details

Alright, here's what I got so far. I've been struggling hard to get the axle equal and lined up on all sides to start cycling the 4 link. But I decided to follow Ian's technique from his YouTube vid with securing the axle. As it sits, I am at about 6.5" stretch in the rear to keep the tires...

    JL/JT Axle Swap Details

Gotcha. Didn’t realize they offered that for the LJ. Looks like they do all 2” for the exception with a 1.75” for the front upper. Thanks for the info.

    JL/JT Axle Swap Details

What size diameter did your buddy go with for upper and lower control arms? Trying to get an idea before I purchase. TMRcustoms has a nice chart that states if vehicle under 5k, go with 2.25" lowers and 2" uppers but I think I can get away with going smaller. My TJ weighed 4200 before I pulled...

    All things welding

Haven’t tried it yet. I’d have to see if they have aluminum. They gave the filler wire so going to test and get my hands on it this Saturday

    All things welding

I’ve been able to play with TIG at my weekend fundamental class the last few weeks. Definitely different and more variables of control. My instructor is a stainless steel Tig welder by trade, but his techniques and those I’ve seen on YouTube are definitely different. He has a lay the filler down...

Maybe.. too early to tell if I can make it out there or not. I will let you know closer to the end of November.

    All things welding

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Btw, what are those darkspots on the weld? I noticed it on one of the others as well. For the one you talked about gun angle, when mig welding, does the gun stay angled the same and the hand is moving in a direction, or is it almost like a walk the cup type...

    All things welding

First time posting in the welding thread. I have a Hobart 190 that I’ve been trying to get dialed in, it just never sounded right. So….decided to “read” the directions, 🤦‍♂️ turns out I had the polarity set up to flux core rather than gas. Fml 😂. Anyway, got everything set up correctly. I’m...

    2004 LJ In Flux

Hey flux, maybe I missed it somewhere in the 25 pages. Do you send an email confirmation back to the sender when you receive one? I ask bc I emailed awhile back about corner armor but didn’t get anything back. Do you need certain info in the email? Thanks.

    Fire Extinguisher Size, Mount, Location

I have mine mounted behind the center console. I run with no backseat and wanted quick access to it, if ever needed. Drilled a couple of holes in the center console to securely mount it. It almost fits in the rear cup holder so keeps it stable at the bottom. Hasn’t moved an inch after beating up...

Ivy Branch, H&M trails in WV

I think I remember seeing your red Jeep When y’all came back in on saturday. We walked the waterfall trail but decided against it. Sunday was really wet and got muddy fast. This pic was toward the top of one of them where momentum was the only thing that’ll get you up the switch back section. It...

Ivy Branch, H&M trails in WV

Oh man! Was going to post a trail review of ivy branch! Me and some buddies were just there this weekend. What a great time, these trails were awesome and did not disappoint and definitely pushed my Jeep to the limits. I wonder if we saw each other in the parking lot on Sunday? We wheeled all...

    Let's talk trailers

For tail gate opening purposes? It looks like the one I’m getting had the jack stand away from the tongue. Not sure how far but probably far enough to open the tail gate

    Let's talk trailers

Decided to go with a Kaufman equipment hauler. 18’ 10k axles. If anyone is interested in going with them and want a flat hauler with no dove tail, the sales rep said it’s a 4 week lead time.

    Let's talk trailers

Agreed, but unless I go custom, it is difficult to find one without a tail or pay 1-2k more. I’m trying to stay at $6k or less. It would be nice to get something like this but man it’s $$$. https://idealtrailernc.com/inventory-detail/load-trail-85x20-10k-car-hauler-30788-100760

    Let's talk trailers

I’m going to call Kaufman tomorrow and see what’s available. I will go with an equipment trailer for the 2’ dove tail. All of their car haulers are metal and have a 4’ tail. I guess it’ll be a toss up between a 10k 18’ or a 14k 20’ equipment hauler. Have a trip planned to ivy branch at the end...
