    AX-15/Tcase Noise (Update)

Hard to hear much in the audio other than exhaust (muffler) noise while driving. The noise sounds like the beginning stages of a throwout bearing going bad.

Loose or clanking rear driveshaft / differential

If you drain the differential gear lube; you more than likely will find a lot of metal particles in the gear lube. The pinion bearing definitely requires replacement and more than likely the ring and pinion are in need of replacement too. IF you have never rebuilt a rear differential and...

    2001 TJ Starter Problem

When this problem occurs verify there is or is not 12V incoming at the starter solenoid to actuate the solenoid. When heat increases resistance increases and amperage draw increases causing the starter to not work properly. Check the condition (loose or oxidized connections/cable wiring) of...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Spending Saturday at Huguenot Memorial Park exploring the beach and jetty areas made me realize that I needed a new set of tires. Between ongoing sales promotions and military discount; I drove a way with a new set of (5) Firestone Destination ATs's for less than $900.

    Scratching sound coming from clutch

Depending upon how much you use your Jeep; the scratchy clutch throwout bearing noise can get worse quickly. Approximately 10 months ago I had the same problem with the throwout bearing on my '01. Mine went from a slight scratchy sound to a really nasty grinding sound within a couple months...

Hottest day of the year so far and my blower quits

In the scenario posted above; replacing the climate control panel may be required, but the more important item would be replacing the melted wiring harness and connector. Since purchasing my '01 TJ I have created a spare parts cabinet since OEM parts are getting more difficult to locate. I have...

    01 TJ soft top replacement

Bestop Sail cloth would a factory replacement if you have the $700. There are less expensive soft tops, but you get what you pay for. Shortly after purchasing my '01 ('20) I replaced the Smitybuilt with a Bestop. The quality difference between the two is quite noticeable.

Please help spot any problems on 2005 Jeep TJ (college students first car)

I agree with previous posts... A THOROUGH inspection needs to be performed on the inside condition of the frame rails paying special attention to the areas where the transfercase skidplate mounts to the frame rail and the dog legs in the back where they go upwards to towards the spring mounts...

    What color is my Jeep?

Solar Yellow: PYH, VYH, AY95VYH are the color codes that I have found for your year TJ. Since you are an export location; there may be other colors unknown to our domestic market.

    Unknown connectors

Not sure of what the overseas foreign market options are on the '97, but my guess would be either Fog lights or driving lights.

Is this a leaking pinion seal?

That leak appears to be seepage thru the pinion splines. If the leak were between the seal and the yoke; you would see the oil leaking down the metal part of the seal instead of the out from inside the yoke where the nut holds the yoke onto the pinion.
