What did you do to your TJ today?

With Hurricane Milton arriving tomorrow afternoon I topped off the fuel tank and parked my Jeep in the garage to protect it from flying debris. Yesterday I made sure I have enough food and water for a several days and the generator has enough fuel just in case.... Contacted my son in Port...

How does my driveshaft angle look

In the picture it appears you still have the stock UCAs; with 4" of lift I would expect you to already have adjustable control arms. Adjustable UCAs can usually assist in correcting pinion to driveshaft angles to 0* when installing a SYE and DC driveshaft.

    Soon to be obsolete

Do a search and you will find several posts on the spare parts topic. Shortly after I purchased my '01 in 2020 I started a spare parts cabinet for the hard to locate parts. While aftermarket parts may fit; they seldom equal the quality of the Mopar parts. I have purchased quite a few spare...

    Crank pulley shenanigans

Mac, Glad to see you used a Bottoming Tap to chase the threads and recover several threads at the bottom of the crank snout. Congrats on getting the threads repaired and the harmonic balancer hub fully seated.

    Crank pulley shenanigans

Even after advising a lawyer (too smart) against using the hub bolt; I watched him try to press the harmonic balancer onto the crank snout using the bolt. He stripped the bolt and buggered up the internal threads. The guy was mad at me when I said, "I told you not to do that" !!!! Several years...

    226 plus temperature

Check the radiator fins for proper air flow. You can shine a bright light thru the radiator from inside the engine compartment to see if the light shines thru the front condenser coil. If you can not see much light you need to rinse the radiator fins in both directions; engine compartment...

    Wet Floor

IF the cowl vent and the cowl seal have been ruled out; then check the rubber windshield frame header seal where the top meets the windshield frame. When I purchased my '01 several years ago the inside of the Jeep smelled like mildew due to numerous pin holes in the Smitybilt soft top...

Hit bad bump, crank and no start now

Lift your hood and explore the PDC (fuse box on passenger fender), remove the Fuel Pump relay and Automatic Shutdown relay and reinsert into their receptacles. You will need assistance for the next step. Place your finger on the fuel pump relay and turn the ignition to ON; you should feel the...

    Transmission fluid change…

Some of that residue appears to be RTV, but there are several silver chips that could pose a concern. Was there any buildup of particles in the pan ? What was the color of the fluid when drained ? When you state you are changing the fluid; are you just replacing the fluid drained from the...

    Overheating Issue: Cooling System Overhaul

The 4.0L in our TJ does not have a coolant sensor on the side of the block; it is located on the thermostat housing. The earlier generation 4.0L has a coolant temperature sensor screwed into the rear right corner of the head. I could be wrong, but isn't that a Renix (<'90) 4.0L ?

    Weird speedometer issue

I had a similar problem several months ago when I replaced the speedometer gear to calibrate speed after changing tire size. What I discovered was the O ring has split and was interfering with the mesh of the gears. Remove the speed sensor housing and check the O ring to ensure this hasn't...
