I just checked with a local radiator repair shop. Worst case scenario, if a brand new core was required, the bill would be around $150. Sounds like most of the time they're able to just clean the core and repair whatever is leaking which keeps the price a lot lower. He also offered to test...

What gears are in your axles now? What size tire are you wanting to run? My guess is that swapping to a 6-speed is not going to yield the results you're after.

Keep in mind, the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac is also an excellent choice and available to fit your criteria also. Edit: Looks like the Duratrac is only available in the wider 12.5" size.:(
