I’ve got a spare 42rle so i’m just gonna throw it in. The only thing I’m contemplating is, should I replace the torque converter while i’m in there? If so, what brand?

It’s a whine and gets louder if I sit and rev it in park. The pump would make sense cause it kinda sputters as though it’s sucking up air or something but the fluid level is 100% good. Wheres the pump at?

I little update, I’m pretty certain it’s the solenoid. It just started to whine.

A while back when trying to diagnose the p0161 and I replaced the cats but not since. The p0161 is really the least of my concerns. I’m gonna swap the oem pcm in tomorrow to rule it out.

I have a back up 42rle I grabbed a while back when a jeep popped up at my local lkq. I’ll swap a couple things to test and then likely just swap that transmission in. I put the transgo shift kit in it so I might as well just put it in the jeep now.

I got the PCM 4/21/2020 because I had the o2 heater code and the rough shifts. Then reached out and sent the pcm back to you 5/24/22 because there were a bunch of weird random codes and the p0161 kept coming back. I’ve been ignoring the p0161 code ever since because i’ve replaced all o2 sensors...
