Thats a pretty old thread, you might get more help if you start a new one. What about going to a welder / fabricator and have a small hoop / step welded to the current slider ? Im considering doing just that.

Thats the short intake supply tube in the front, Correct ? Thats the same on a Wrangler or a Cherokee, shouldn't be too difficult. Any salvage yards near you ?

Id fill up at a name brand station selling top tier gasoline. I always thought Gas was Gas but after filling up with mobil several tanks the little idle issue I was having resolved itself. Coincidence ??? i can't say. Where I live the Mobil gas is the same price as the convenient stores gas so...
