I’ve always just used the Chevy 1/2 ton caliper mount and caliper that was on the truck I robbed the knuckle from with the ford hub/rotor. I’d have to dig back through my notes but I think only one of the bearings is different. The last time I did one of these was 2005 so memory may be off.

On a Chevy axle, yes, but since he said he has a high pinion 44 I’ll assume it’s a ford axle and if it has flat tops they were swapped to be able to run high steer.

The Westlakes in the G rating are generally regarded as good tires. It’s the lighter duty ones that get a bad rap. I’d run what came on it until they wear out or age out.

Yes sir, those and flap disks have prevented me from using an abrasive grinding wheel for at least 10 years. Well stocked up on those, although I’m using Benchmark Abrasives discs, not 3M’s.

What bumpstops are you running? Even if it’s the Curries with the large washers that act as spring retainers, even a 1/4” bolt and nutsert is going to hold after the washer bends if it’s possible to even put that much force on the setup.

And battery adapters on Amazon are well worth the $15. My old craftsman C3 runs quite well off a Milwaukee M18 battery.

You’ll get there with age. The reason I have 6 grinders is because over 30 years I’ve changed my mind on what I like the best and still have all the old ones. Only 3 are from the last decade.
