03 - 06 Steering Gear Box Replacement Recommendations

Having rebuilt a stock steering gear, and ported it for hydro assist, and having set up said "budget" hydro assist, I can tell you to save your time and money and do it the right way from the beginning. If you have plans to eventually go hydro assist, just get the PSC Big Bore box now. You'll...

Rear track bar not aligning in frame mount

Something just isn't right. If you have an adjustable track bar, then leave the jam nut loose until you have the bolts installed. That allows the it to be aligned before tightening. If you still can't get it with that, then you need to post up pictures of what's going on because you're doing...

    Still another gear question

Everyone is missing the main point that these are used gears, not new. When gears are set new, they work harden. If you don't get these gears set up exactly like they were when he pulled them, then it's going to be a complete crapshoot. Setting them up to new install specs isn't the answer. If...

    Winch Rope Guard

The fire hose is double jacketed with the outer jacket (Nylon) specifically designed for abrasion resistance. Now don't get me wrong, a razor blade can cut right though it, but it holds up to abrasion pretty well. The newer hose we now carry has kevlar to increase that resistance. The larger 5"...

    Winch Rope Guard

I can certainly see the heat issue if the rope is moving through the sheath (i.e someone else pulling you), but I'm not as worried when it's in a static setting (i.e. pulling yourself) as it just guards against abrasion caused by the rope moving laterally.

It does. I just like to hear the reasoning to justify the "why".

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

I'm curious about the backlash on these. Why do you want that to be on the tight side so much? If you're pinion depth is 3 thou deep, and the backlash is really tight, it doesn't give the gears a whole lot of room to mesh. In a racing application I might understand. Not so much for this. Is it...

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

What did I win??? 😂 I just went back and looked at both patterns. The 52 is the best non-deep pattern. The 49 is the best "deep" pattern that still works. If you want to be slightly deep, then 49 is your best option.

Rear track bar not aligning in frame mount

If you get a relocation bracket, it will resolve that. The bend forward in the bracket will cause the track bar to align as it should. As @gasiorv stated. with an adjustable trackbar it will be that much easier. if your track bar is not adjustable, then the relation bracket is needed that much more.
