    Original Thermostat

It doesn't have to be "super accurate." I am comparing how my thermostat responds to the one it replaced - using the same gauge.

    Original Thermostat

Why is that? Isn't that a fail-safe thermostat?

    Original Thermostat

It has been working fine for 10 years, so there's that. I don't know what temperature it opens at, only that the needle on the gauge shows it goes a tick past 210 before it opens. It always looks like it isn't going to open - then it does. I don't remember my original one getting that high...

    Original Thermostat

About 10 years ago, I cleaned and refreshed my entire cooling system, and that included a new thermostat. Although the replacement (Mopar) thermostat works fine, it never has been as consistent as the original one was. And it seems to stay closed a tad bit longer than my original one did...

Fram owners in chapter 11 bankruptcy

The truth is, Fram had a LOT of issues in the early 2000s. And - if you believe Jerry - they ADMITTED it.

Fram owners in chapter 11 bankruptcy

I don't think his bias was "unfounded" at all. Perhaps something "incentivized" him to make that lengthy apology: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/eating-crow-fram-oil-filters-and-my-visit-to-frams-r-d-facility-in-dayton-ohio.9042/ It seems to me that Fram *FIXED* their earlier problems...

    1994 - 1996 Jeep XJ "SPORT" Decals

I thought there was an "edit" button? I don't see it anymore. I wanted to add this picture so it didn't look so much like I was trying to show off my Jeep. (Guilty!) Here is a better photo of the decal:

    1994 - 1996 Jeep XJ "SPORT" Decals

I decided to remove the silly blue "Sport" decals on my 1998 Jeep Wrangler a while back, and I don't miss them. That being said, I saw a 1996 Jeep XJ "SPORT" model recently, and I liked the font style and size of that decal better. So I decided to buy a set and see what they looked like on my...

What are the most reliable years for the Wrangler?

1997 - 1999 are the simplest and most reliable years of the Jeep TJ.

1997 Jeep Icon (JJ) Concept Vehicle

Opinions vary. I think it looks better than that abomination called the JK.

1997 Jeep Icon (JJ) Concept Vehicle

There have been a couple of threads here lately about the Jeep "Icon" wheels that were found on the later-model Jeep Cherokee XJ. This got me to remembering about the canceled Jeep Icon - codenamed JJ - that *almost* went into production in 1997. What do you think...

Were these factory wheels an option on TJs?

I think that was done to protect the lug nuts while rock-crawling. Remember that the Moabs were only available on the Rubicon model, and that model was all about rock-crawling.

Were these factory wheels an option on TJs?

I can go along with this. But I also think the TJ Moab wheels had a nice concave appearance as well. The JK ones did not. If you compare a TJ with the TJ-style Moab wheels to the JK- style Moab wheels, the look is very different.

Were these factory wheels an option on TJs?

While I love the Icon wheels (I have a set on my ZJ), I personally don't think they are concave enough for the TJs.

Looking for pictures of Cherokee “Icon” 16x7 wheels on a TJ

I have always like the Icon wheels. I replaced my stock 15x7 Canyons with these on my 1998 ZJ Special Edition:

New here, just got a 97 TJ

I have a 1998 model. That is why I wondered why you think the 1997 model is better than all the rest. I would avoid any model TJ that had the multi-function switch. But I would say the [mechanical] 1997/1998 HVAC control panel is an upside.

    Wheel / Tire Dilemma

My Jeep also has a 2.5" suspension lift. I tried running 32x11.50 tires on my stock Gambler wheels, and they severely rubbed. And your Ravines have the same backspacing. You will need wheel spacers for a tire that wide, and that will cause the tires stick out well beyond the fender flares...

New here, just got a 97 TJ

I have always maintained that the best years of the TJ was 1997 - 1999. How did you arrive to the conclusion that 1997 was the single best year?
