I've never seen one before. The google-foo says that it was made in Spain. The company was Santana. Really don't know much more than that. Oh, the 2500 was the fancy version. The 2.5 was the work version.

Uber for Marines. I did feel kinda sorry for the Marines doing calisthenics on the non-skid though. That stuff is harsh.

The 16" guns were bag guns. Ah got it! A shell from a 16" gun made into a pressure vessel. That's cool!

As an aside, but related. There was a set of 9 - 16" x 50 caliber gun tubes ( Mark 7's?) behind a warehouse in Olongapo when I was there. That was the most amazing thing to me to be able walk up and actually touch one. They are huge! Just sitting there in wooden cradles. All lined up in a...

I was black gang. We rarely got shore leave in those circumstances, and went down a gangway when we did. One of the ships I was on spent two weeks in Papaeete, Tahiti. I spent two weeks rebuilding six auxiliary condensers. I spent a total of five evenings ashore during those two weeks. About...

This is only a guess, but it looks like maintenance is being performed on the main battery. It's a never ending chore on a ship. Those gun tubes need to be cleaned and oiled just like your M-16 does. In almost the same way. The deck crew gets really pissed when you drip gun oil on their wood...

I had one of these back in the day. Fiat 124 Sport Coupe. 1.6l 5speed. Mine was the same as this, but different, wider wheels and tires. Put some Abarth parts in it, and it ran pretty well. Topped out about 137 or so. A set of Pirelli P-7's kept it glued down.

That would be super cool to put a Lotus Europa style body on. Maybe something like a 3/4 sized De Tomaso Pantera. That's a monocoque (sp?)body though, isn't it? Everything is hung off the body on subframes? Well, it would give somebody something to do in their spare time.

Anybody up for a random meme dump?

When it can be taught to shoot, fish, and drive a Jeep off road, give me a call. They'll never replace a good woman, they'll easily replace a bad one. Same-o same-o for men.

If you get 15 minutes and have any interest, here is a brief about Adm. Rickover and the Nuclear Navy. I never met him. But the stories are numerous. He actually had a pretty evil reputation in the Fleet. https://warontherocks.com/cogs-of-war/hyman-rickover-and-the-birth-of-nuclear-power/

Yup. One of my crew collected a Second class Crow and $10,000 for re-upping. He went out that Saturday and bought himself a high zoot Rx-7 with all the bells and whistles. He financed a goodly portion of it. Two weeks later he wrecked it and killed himself. Idiot. Engineroom Qualified Second...

Steering cooler mounts that don't fit with tolerances sloppier than your mom’s whisker biscuit, little bit of gay stuff also.

He will, unsurprisingly though, answer straight up questions when asked politely. Even when there is no profit in it for him. Polite question - straightforward answer. That's how it works. I don't understand what is so mind bendingly hard about that. It even seems to work pretty well for...
