Do you have a winch? How often do you use it?

Well, the town plow truck driver got tired of just hitting my mailbox like a civilized person, and decended from his lofty perch to tell me my jeep is too close to the road, im like its farther away from the road than that street sign you keep hitting... but decided to move it anyway, mid clutch...

Junk yard parts options for budget upgrades?

Does anyone know of a good source for what parts from other vehicles parts swap onto tj's as an alternative to paying retail? Or sometimes for test purposes, like using junkyard coils to figure out what hight lift you want then buying nicer ones? I think its zj or wj control arms from a v8...

Do you have a winch? How often do you use it?

Yup, rust not rocks, hah. Ill take a lot of body rust over any frame rust. Jeeps are so easy to weld in new sheet metal, with the flat panels or worst case simple curves, compound curves take a ton of time, but i replaced about 30% of the body on my 47 cj2a with sheetmetal off free appliances...

    Clutch fork came off

Old thread, but i had something to add, the 2004 wrangler i just picked up was cheap cause the clutch stopped working, previous owner romped it through a deep mud hole with the clutch pedal pushed in, mud got between clutch backing plate and clutch diaphram, so when he let out clutch pedal...

    Red Winches

Being in new england, im intregued by the aluminum, cause of the road salt, its a tough life being a winch on a bumper here, but youd have to just about make one with ONLY aluminum, to avoid the galvanic corrosion. A winch with no steel in it would have to be larger for same strength I would...

Do you have a winch? How often do you use it?

I just saw an 8274 for 5 hundy beans last night, just making sure i dont discover any additional previous owner deffered maintenance before I piss away all my limited funds hah. Doing a clutch job in the snow, see pic, hah. Seller said the clutch pedal just got no resistance all of a sudden...

Do you have a winch? How often do you use it?

Yeah, literally just gonna throw the one i have on there for now, till i find a good deal on something smaller/lighter, to tide me over, cause without heavy equipment on our little farm, if i dont have a winch, I end up hand winching stuff, and tweaking my back, hah. Unless you straddle the...

Has anyone ever used a hand winch?

I used one the other day to winch a project tj through the mound of plowed snow at end of my driveway, the angle was sketchy to get my tow pig into, so i backed it in as far as i dared, and used a come along style to get it like 10 more feet off the road, to keep it out of the road salt, a nice...

I have a question for those who have a badlands winch hitch mounting kit, a 12,000lb winch and big tires on their TJs.

I learned winch safety from real loggers while i was logging logs, in oregon where all the pretty winches grow. I was taught to never winch from a tow hitch, they arent designed for the kinda side loads you can get, and if its a big hitch, its on a big heavy truck, they dont make 12k hitches...

Do you have a winch? How often do you use it?

I Grew up in rural oregon, and the mud there is fierce. Ive been in rural vermont for 6 years now, and the mud season only lasts one month, its great, hah. My wife is not real confident on icy roads, so im building the redneck version of one of those iceland overland rigs, hah. 31-32's...

How to fix a no-start issue caused by a bad PCM

I fixed the 2 computers in my free 7.3 f550 by opening them up and cleaning the INTERNAL grounds, where the board grounds to the case. Just think of all the 5v sensor connections as WORSE than the old 6v stuff, they send signals with very small changes in voltage or resistance in the circuit...
