A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

Hopefully someone with a better knowledge base will chime in, but I know sealer is really good about covering colors for a respray, if that's necessary, since it sounds like you are moving to a lighter color.

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

That's not bad at all! Once the jeep hits more of a growth spurt I know who I'm calling for brakes. Not sure how much brake I'll need, but I trust you to lead me straight. And thanks for taking the time to educate me, very much appreciate the passing of knowledge.

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

I know full well why you don't do that. I've never messed with the unit bearings before, so didn't know what was entailed. I was just stating the big 16 and 17" kit requires no grinding on top of the added stopping power. I'm a welder by trade, so I've spent a fair amount of time running a...

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

I'm either going to run the 16 or 17" BBK since I'm planning a fairly heavy build with roof rack and trailer, otherwise I would be dropping down to some ravines and doing a beadlock conversion on them, but with liking the ability to actually stop in a timely manner I think bigger brakes will be...

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

I have the gunmetal JK moabs on my khaki tj and think the color combo is spot on. I wanna know what the Rubicon hard rock? rims would look like on it. I'm not sure on the name of those rims they remind me a little of the old school halibrand rims.

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

Well my truck is a 00 with 168k miles and I'm the first I'm aware of to even check fluid since factory, it's been in my family since 03. I guess learning to actually properly maintain the vehicle is a better place to start.

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

One would argue in some ways that the savvy TT and 4" of lift would be an extreme angle in relation to stock, or am I misunderstanding about setting pinion angles for the changes to the driveline? I can see filling by volume instead of level, you will have to excuse the ignorance, as I'm used to...

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

I can see that. My thing is what about oil burn off, and it just seeping out over time, or is the proper service interval frequent enough for that? No one ever talks about diff fluid, and I just put about a half a bottle in my truck last night and it doesn't visibly leak any. I ask more about...

A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

Why was it designed to specifically run a stock thickness diff cover and not some of the options that have better fill options for the more extreme pinion angles? Would it be possible to modify the brace to work with say the ARB diff covers?

    Knocking sound from clutch?

I know a guy that had a dodge cummins that made a knocking sound when its TOB went out, so I'm hoping that's what it is. I'll try poking the bear Sunday to see if I can get it to reproduce and get it on video. I'll also try your trick with the Tcase, just to see. I'm better at just straight...

    Knocking sound from clutch?

I'll accept the growling sound as normal. But that knocking just started a couple weeks ago, and I've driven it twice since then. That knocking is NOT normal for my jeep. The growl has been there from jump street. This knock is new, and I don't hear it while driving, just sitting still in...

    Knocking sound from clutch?

It's in neutral at a stop when I hear it. Clutch out. Push the clutch in and the knocking stops.

    Knocking sound from clutch?

I have a 04 with the 4.0 and 5 speed. Last couple times I've driven it more than a couple of miles, I've noticed when it warms up, it makes a very distinct knocking sound, but when I push the clutch pedal to the floor it goes quiet. Even on initial start up, when the clutch is out of makes this...

Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

I feel you. Was originally going to drop back down to 15's but the thought of running the vanco 16" brake kit seems like a good idea for the build I have planned. However this is your build.

Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

Have you considered the 17" jk wheels? They actually don't look too bad. That's what my jeep has on them with a 31" tire, so I bet itll just look better with a 33.

    Winch with stock bumper?

Hey, Bob what's under the big plastic bumper pieces? Been thinking about narrowing the factory bumper, and welding a taco bull bar I acquired some years ago to the front, but it lines up right on those plastic pads. I could narrow the bull bar if I wanted but itd be a lot less work if I didn't...

Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

Ok I just read through this WHOLE thread! Holy cow dude that's an awesome way to go about. I have a question savvy says you need at least a 1 inch body lift. Is that for arm clearance at full compression? I'm not big on body lifts, but after perusing the forum I'm seeing the advantages of the BL...

AEV just take my money already haha

I want an overlanding rig that I could take wheeling. Was looking at tacos and 4 runners and went you want 13k for something with 250k miles lemme go look at jeeps. Wasn't much better this side, but I do love the ole 4.0.

    My daughters first ride

I think it's a speed thing. It's not the girls are better/ more careful, boys are just running higher speeds, and we can't recover when we do screw up.

    My 06 LJ

That's a wicked looking LJ! I'm partial to the color though, not sure why.
