    Talk me out of this

I'm with the others that say undercoating hides rust. For that kind of money you should be getting a Rubicon version of the LJ. Beware the 2005 PCM issues. Why did someone strip out the carpet? It'll cook your feet. Don

Who makes TJ parts for Mopar?

Yes, a brand new Mopar packaged crank sensor from the dealer was marked 'Made in China'. Very disapointed... Don

I had pretty good results using the original factory amplifier with the same Kicker subwoofer. Don

What did you do to your TJ today?

Well I've wanted to post to this thread since I got my 05 LJR last June. Within the first week it stalled on me 60 miles from home, that turned out to be the dreaded PCM issue. I ended up getting (while holding my nose) a replacement from FS1 that worked and still is working. I understand a lot...

Help OPDA not seating about 1/8th inch off base

On your last question, about the OPDA timing... There is a 2:1 reduction ratio between crank and cam. While the crank must complete 2 complete revolutions per #1 cylinder combustion cycle, the cam only turns one revolution.

If you need a regear to 5.13, now might be the time

Now you think about it from a technicians standpoint...assuming only $100 an hour which is way lower than most shop rates, if you can get a good gear setup within 5 hours of labor on each axle you are doing extremely good or you are extremely lucky to get a good setup with the first assembly...

How to replace the heater core on a Jeep Wrangler TJ

Interesting read, reminds me of the first Cherokee heater core I changed out...I didn't pull the whole dash out, left the steering column in place and rotated and lifted the dash with bungee cords enough to access the heater/ac plenum box out from under the dash. Once it was out on the bench...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Today, replaced the torn factory Sub with a Kicker CompRT 43CWRT672. This fit right in the orginal mounting location and sounds great! This is after driving for a week now with a replacement PCM from Flagship 1. I'm not a shill for them, in fact was not happy with their feedback response, but...

How to upgrade & replace your factory Jeep Wrangler TJ console subwoofer

Update to this old thread... Ranger Rick, thanks for starting this. I used the Kicker 43CWRT672 to replace the torn factory sub in the 2005 LJ I just got a month ago. I decided to only replace what I knew was bad, the torn speaker. I used the original factory amp, cut the speaker connectors off...

Rebuild, replace, or upgrade Trac Loc?

I really like the spirit I see in this forum, with members advocating 'frugal' behavior, and doing things themselves instead of just taking it to a shop. Now, it is true that I make my living at a shop, but I would also encourage anyone who wants to save money to learn and do it themselves...

SOLVED: Engine cutting out with sporadic speedometer behavior and fine after a break

Yes it was Car Computer Exchange. I am waiting until I get more mileage on the replacement PCM so I have a better case for redress from Car Computer Exchange to request a refund for the repair that they did not succeed in performing.

Rebuild, replace, or upgrade Trac Loc?

Jerry, I would agree with the 3 hour quote. That video was very well done, but there were a lot of edits. I guarantee that he didn't do that in 9:33. The first one of those I did probably took at least 3 hours, I didn't have the factory tools and used a bolt and a pair of nuts and washers to...

SOLVED: Engine cutting out with sporadic speedometer behavior and fine after a break

Rasband, I feel your pain, believe me i do. I bought an 05 LJ Rubicon last month, and the first time I took it up into the mountains it died 26 miles from town, with the same exact symptoms you describe. It would restart after a few minutes and run anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes...

Rebuild, replace, or upgrade Trac Loc?

We refer to those as 'trash-locs' at the shop I work in. Most often when a customer comes in with a worn out Trac-loc it is most cost effective to replace it with an Eaton True-Trac. The True-Trac isn't cheap but the cost of R&R and labor to replace the clutches in the Trac-Loc comes out about...
