    Rear Main Seal Replacement (4.0)

Fel-Pro is a major source for sealing tips. They advise you to offset the seal just like in your picture for the 455. They also say to add a film of silicone on the parting lines, the end of the seal where the two halfs will meet. A film is all that is needed, if you put a glob on it will...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

My brother in law, my nephews father just retired Jan 30th and had to turn in his company car. This left him and my sister with one car in the family. I dropped the Jeep at their house to get it out of my garage and they were all smiles to have a running 2nd car show up. Perfect for trips to...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

OK, we have a WRAP! Fire in the hole. Installed the new PCM today, all gauges worked properly right away. No Start. I should mention as caution and to clear any voltage in the system we disconnected the battery and clamped the two battery leads togeather before removing the old PCM...

    Rear Main Seal Replacement (4.0)

I received this note from the forum today but it does not show up in this thread? "geebus. Every step of this job has a new annoyance. Any tricks to getting the seal out of the bearing cap?" You need to be careful what you use to remove the seal from the engine block or you can hit and damage...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

As mentioned above, I did contact @Wrangler fix, they did reply they would get back to me and never did? I was looking that direction first. May have been a poor choice on my part but I figure when a business does not get back to you it is time to go somewhere else. Could have been my fault...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

I did go to @ Wrangler fix, they said they would get back to me and did not other than to respond they would get back to me. Sorry, I tried, when a business does not respond I usually move on as I think most people do.

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

Second update. FS1 responded once again, this time they say it will ship within 48 hours, and they gave us a tracking number. My experience is that tracking numbers are assigned at time of pick up not 24-48 hours in advance of shipping. Oh well, still hoping it fires up with the new PCM...

    Rear Main Seal Replacement (4.0)

Sorry for the long post about the one piece seal, I always thought the 4.0L and 2.5L were similar, I know they use the same pistons and many other parts. Did not mean to waste your time. Most manufacturers switched to the one piece rear main in 1986 I guess Jeep chose not to. Good Luck with...

    Rear Main Seal Replacement (4.0)

My 1999 2.5L has a one piece rear main seal and I think your 4.0L 2003 will certainly have the one piece rear main seal. Google your seal part number and look at it. A one piece seal comes right out the back behind the flywheel. The oil pan does not need to be removed at all. Your one piece...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

Well, the new computer that was said to be IN STOCK when ordered now 2 weeks ago has not yet arrived. As of Thursday it had not shipped yet. Add clearly says in stock and will ship right away. I guess that is subjective information. I will update when this arrives. This was from FS1. I...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

Looked at the Headlight issue today. Wires tested fine for both regular and high beams, grounds tested fine. Both Low Beams were just burnt out. My nephew had been driving this and never mentioned this small detail. I am thinking he was using the high beams just to keep it on the road. He...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

Update: Jeep will not start, still. Assuming the computer/PCM is good because we sent it off for rebuild and it was sent back to us with a note saying it was good and we were not charged. This was the start of this no start issue. After tearing into the entire Jeep, tracing and testing nearly...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

Glad you won the battle, I am still in the trenches. Congratulations. I unplugged my PCM completely and the fuse with the dead ground is still grounded, that fuse feeds the O2 Sensor and the Leak Detection System. I unplugged both of those devices and still have the dead ground. Wiggle all...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

I have found 2 fuses in the PDC, # A27 and A18 are both dead, no power, the feed for A27 is a solid ground rather than a 12V+ so I am getting close to an answer.

The distributor is rotating and the rotor inside the cap points directly at #1 when the crankshaft is turned to face the TDC mark on the harmonic balancer. If the cam was not turning properly these two would not still be in alignment. Thanks for the thought, i wish it was mechanical, I could...

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

Still trying to get this TJ back on the road. In the OBD2 port I have found the #3 CCD Bus pin is showing 2.48V and I understand it should show 5 Volts. Pin 6 the SCI Receive is showing 4.258 volts and pin 7 the SCI Transmit is showing zero or dead volts. I used the wire schematic and traced...

    Rear Main Seal Replacement (4.0)

Just an FYI: at the beginning of this thread there is a picture of a rear main bearing when the cap was pulled for the new 2 piece rear main seal. The bearing in the photo shows it is down to the copper. The reason that bearing is falling out is it is worn out. A new Bearing is required...

Yup. In my case I have 48 PSI at the rail and wet plugs so injectors are working, I assume that means cam sensor is good, I know fuel pressure is on a separate circuit.

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

We started with sending ours in for a rebuild, they sent it back with our check and said it tested perfectly, they did not take our money. Very nice of them to check it and confirm but I am still looking for answers. I think it is in the wire harness.

1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Will Not Start

My reading on here said if the Camshaft position sensor located in the distributor is working your fuel injectors will work, if it is not the Fuel Injectors will not function. I believe it said the only function of the Camshaft posistion sensor was to support the Fuel injection. You could spray...
