    Do-anything LJ build advice

I think you are good to button it up. It's not too deep at all. Persistence pays off. At least you checked both sides to get it dialed. Strong work. Most shops would have buttoned it to 4 patterns ago.

That looks a lot better! I'd now say your only 1-2 thou shallow. My guess is 1 if you can make it happen.

    Do-anything LJ build advice

Oh that's right, we were talking taking about cutting slots. It's really weird, your coast side before you took 2 thou out looked pretty good but nothing else does. Ok then, let's take out another 2-3 and see what happens. Making sure we find too shallow will help dial it in. Sometimes it's...

That looks like you went deeper not shallower...🤷 What gears are those? They almost have a 2 cut look to them.

Maybe 1 or two thou is all. Very close! And yeah, use just enough compound to cover the teeth.

Has anyone run the Metalcloak Rocksport Red shocks.

I've installed them on another Jeep and didn't have anything good to say about them.

    Gear Pattern Check

Ok, so what I'm seeing is that you can get a decent pattern on one side or the other (Yukon quality nowadays). Focus on the drive side. Add 3 thou and let's see it. You will probably be as good as it can get. If you can do 2 thou try that.

    Gear Pattern Check

The difference between your drive and coast side patterns is enough that I would want to make a decent size change to see where things are. I would take 5 thou out just to see what is going on. It'll move the patterns enough to give me an idea. Yours is one of these axles that is like to have...

    Gear Pattern Check

Your pinion head shows slightly shallow (inverse of ring gear), and your ring gear I would say is slightly deep. My guess is you are good to go. What gears are these?

    Eaton E-locker Question

They take a little bit of movement to lock. Get both tires off the ground and spin them. If you can hear it lock, it is barely noticeable. They don't make any noise.

Can you take a pic of the pinion head looking straight at it?

That's the place I'm talking about, do it to both sides. I usually wait until I'm doing final install as they can catch the shims going in. It's a PITA.
