finally got around to installing the spin free hub kit

Use Norma clamps for this. They don’t dig into the hose and shred the rubber like normal hose clamps. There are no holes in them as the threads don’t perforate the band so you don’t have the cheese grater effect.

Not sure on a scientific level, previous owner of mine used rtv between the bearing cap and block and it leaked like a sieve. I used a couple dots of anaerobic last summer and it’s dry as a bone under my Jeep. You only need anaerobic on the surface of the bearing cap, rtv elsewhere.

I don’t even think 4.88s would’ve given any Vaseline. This kicks in around 60-65 with 5.13 so 4.88 would Just find it 5-10 mph faster

If you have 33’s then you want 5.13, anything else and you’ll have your finger on the OD off button every time you drive. Not everyone gets bad vibes going to deep gears but the ones that do are vocal about it.

I’d love it if that’s the case. The front appears to be stock, the rear shaft has what I think is a slip yoke eliminator and a double u joint off the t case. As far as seeing anything, it’s all been painted before I bought it so I guess the only way to tell is to remove the shafts and check...

5.13 gears are spot on perfect for 33’s and 42RLE

I’m pretty excited to drive it after the gears are installed. I can always add a lunchbox if I decide to. My problem is going to be having the time to get out and actually use it on trails.

The guy I bought mine from replaced the frame. It was $1,000 for clean used. It turned into almost a total restoration. Every part had been examined, repaired, painted or replaced. Daunting project for sure, and tough without a lift and a lot of time.
