    Question about re-gearing

Just be thankful you don't have two overdrive gears Jeremy, like a couple of idiots round here... 😉

Car pics too cool not to share

I think Ian Johnson built a rig with that body - or very close to it - on Big Tire Garage. It was pretty cool.

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

I've not Colt, but I will. However I would not expect to be able to find a difference. That would seem like a flaw from the factory, and remember this thing ran fine and dead quiet for a year. My gut tells me that I tweaked a couple of teeth just enough to make a noise, but not enough to be...

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

OK - Pulled everything apart, and despite knowing where to look I still don't see anything. Here is the ring gear in the area of the bind: The only strange thing I see is the wear on the inside edge of the teeth. Is that normal? Here is the pinion: Again, no vision damage. You can see...

    Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

Thanks Mike. I did just that: I actually marked the ring gear opposite the pinion gear where it was binding - if you look closely at this photo you can see the punch mark. And the bind was in the exact same place. And without the shafts it was actually much more pronounced, and much...

So fooling with this thing out of the rig, rotating the pinion I can definitely feel a subtle rough / binding area at the exact same spot on the ring gear with each rotation. The ring gear must have been tweaked after all.

Thanks for the input. There is definitely a lot of history behind getting to this point. The Yukon gearset is definitely going bye-bye.

Why do you think your 2004 LJ doesn't have a voltage regulator? You are aware that stock it's in the PCM, right?

    The Silver Fox LJ Build

Doing well. Not too much damage here, and we've not lost power. We lost a lot of big branches, and there are quite a few big trees down in the neighborhood. But, a bunch of places in TN did not fare so well:

Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

After asking you the color of your rig, I had to buy special "Dirty White" filament... ;)

Kristen was out about 8 hours. Power came back on for her around 4pm, so not bad. But she is lucky as she is up closer to Nashville, and there are still about 200,000 without power up there.
