2006 Rubicon four-wheel-drive selector switch question

The 241 is rare for Jeeps but not for pretty much every Ram truck out there, that switch isn't special. You wont find many people having problems with generic sensors on Ram trucks. Obviously get what you feel comfortable with but just because the "OR" is rare doesn't really mean anything for...

2006 Rubicon four-wheel-drive selector switch question

I think the switch is used on things like the Ram series trucks so they can be found cheap.

    Oil pressure gauge reading low

I wouldn't even drive my Jeep if the OPDA made noise like that. I guess everybody has their own comfort level but you might consider replacing your OPDA. I thought that noise and the associated difficulty turning the OPDA caused quick wear of the camshaft gear forcing replacement which can be...

Dr. Faustus? I'm going to have to look into this.

Need some advice about my XJ (and perhaps potentially replacing it)

I like the Isuzu Rodeo vs the XJ. I'd personally leverage the stupid XJ values and get the Isuzu. Get what you like, old vehicles all have bullshit issues, that's life. Generally cost of entry is irrelevant, maintenance is what gets you on older rigs.

I'm confused, I'm sure nobody is surprised. How did you quote, aww nevermind, I probably don't want to know.

    Interesting OPDA findings

I like the timing light analogy. @OldBuzzard, you got it as far as I know and ya, not on my Jeep.

Looking for ideas on tethering my dog to roll bar

Harness is great. If you attach it to the Jeep it should be in the center so there is no way the harness gets outside the roll bar. If the harness does reach outside the roll bar disconnect it. You don't want whatever is in the harness attached to the Jeep and outside the Jeep, bad things will...

    Interesting OPDA findings

I agree, it would be great if you could just do the whole thing with a plain scanner. There really isn't any relearn process. The DRB sets the idle high, maybe 1200 rpm. At that point if you were out of sync it shows + or - to help you get it back in sync. Once you are close it reads degrees so...

    Thunderer Trac Grip MT Tires

For me it's all about the void. If you need a high void mud terrain tire than go for it. If you care about on-road performance and noise when you are on the highway then these probably aren't the tire for you. These are cheap mud terrain tires, they have a pretty good pattern but not extremely...

    Interesting OPDA findings

The cam sensor needs to be adjusted so the pulse is in sync with the crank. I don't really know what you mean by a fix? It's not like this is a problem that needs to be resolved, it's just an adjustment that should be made with every sensor replacement.

Transfer case lever doesn't feel like it's connected to anything

At a minimum I'd take out the fill plug in the diff and stick my finger in there. It should look like oil and not chocolate milk. Gear oil in general doesn't have that thick brown color too it unless it has water in it. I'm not an oil expert but I'd be concerned you have water in the oil. Other...

    Low profile rock sliders

You were being helpful, I thought you were joking, the mistake was mine. Cutting off those steps and mounting boat sides in general is allot of work but they obviously have their upside.

I didn't know you were serious, I also run Nankang tires. Interesting about the boat sides.

They'll probably make it without the step if you ask nice. I hear they answer the phones as well.

    Oil Filters

VR1 is great, I use it in my 1960 Ford at the recommendation of the shop that rebuilt my engine. Sad to say my 4.0 gets the cheapest stuff that says "oil" and happens to be the correct weight. I do this or rockauto if it's cheaper. Filters, I doubt it really matters much as long as you change...

    Oil Filters

If you can find them, the MO-090 Mopar filter is great and at Walmart for not much money. Normally less than $10, $6.73 online. It's the factory deal and a good choice. I also like the FL-300 which is a Motorcraft filter about half the price with the same construction as the factory Mopar...

    Shaking at idle

Which sensor? Did you get a code, replace them all or just one? Just curious after seeing your post, nothing more than that, makes sense to me.

    Interesting OPDA findings

There are some open source projects that use Chrysler J1850 and ELM327 adapters but only work on mini vans. I've written software to read the bus but I'm not writing packets on my Jeep. Replacement black boxes are getting expensive and I'm not that talented. DRB3, it was great to get the...
