I just dealt with this and used a pipe wrench on the top part of the shock tower. It locked in and kept it from spinning for me while the impact did the work. That 1/4 flat area on the threads is a joke on 20 year old shocks! lol Tim

Chris pretty much summed it up. With what I'm going to do to mine, I will never be able to sell it for what will be spent. That's not why I bought it though. I bought it to rebuild and it will be my 'retirement' jeep, lol. I still have 18 years, so who knows! Tim

Can you access the mount bolts with the spare on? I'll have to look at it again, but I thought they were 'covered'. I'll dig into it this weekend regardless. Thanks! Tim

I used 2" spacers and love the look. I can turn all day and have zero rub. It clears by about 3/8" with the factory Goodyears. Now I need the wider flares to match! Tim

255/75-17 or 32" JK wheels. I picked them up for $250. There's at least half the life left in 4 of them and the spare hasn't seen the road (or trail). It's a stock suspension right now, but I'm just sticking to on-road at the moment, lol. Tim
