overdrive

I'm currently having a problem with my transmission shuddering when entering overdrive, and it sometimes goes into limp mode when overdrive is off. It shifts great between 1st and 2nd gear but always shudders as it's going into overdrive. Could this be multiple problems or just one?

2003 w/42rle. 76k miles. Hard shifts when downshifting from O/D. Transmission fluid was at correct level when it started occurring. Changed fluid, filter, and gasket with the correct fluid. No change. No check engine light, no codes. I don't mind doing the work, paying for work, and/or paying...

We've only had the LJ for a few months..We noticed the AC turning off at what we thought was random times, but we then realized that when we turn Overdrive OFF (OD Off light = ON), the AC turns off.. fans still work but the compressor turns off and just warm air blows.
