So last year picked up an 01 sport with an aftermarket hard top. My daughter wants to run around during the summer with the hard top off, but I get tired of putting it on and off when weather isn't good, so today I picked up a factory Sunrider top from an 06 TJ. The thing seems to be in excellent condition and I got it installed. I think the only thing we're missing is the tail gate bar brackets.
I have a few questions though.....
What's the best product to keep top in good condition? I use Maguire vinyl cleaner on my dashes and such, is this ok on the top? Is there something better for these tops?
In the sunrider position, does it need strapped? I don't have those either, but I do have velcro tape and such. I suppose that'll work?
Same thing for the rear window. I see there's supposed to be something to keep window rolled up and stowed. Guess I don't have that either.
Again in the Sunrider position what's the trick to unzip the top from the channel? That wasn't covered in the video I watched. Maybe when hot it'll come out easier? I used to have an unzipping tool for vinyl siding, any chance a tool like that might work?
What about folding the top down? Does it stow down pretty low or just above the rear seat? Does it need straps? I'm assuming this is doable? Should windows be out if running top down?
What about running sans rear window or sans side windows? Can you leave top on and run without both or one or other? Previous owner of top seemed to think the corners would pop out and need secured..... any tricks here?
