2001 Wrangler not starting sometimes

2001 wrangler 4.0 5spd recently started not wanting to start sometimes. After placing 5spd in nuetral position and taking transfer case from 2wd through to 4low and back up to 2wd the vehicle then will start in normal fashion. Question: is there a "nuetral position sensor" type sensor or something either in transfer case or transmission that can be going bad to cause this? Any help appreciated.

When you say.... Won't Start"; does that mean the engine won't crank over, will crank over, but won't start ?
The only component in your above problem that may cause this is the clutch pedal switch .

Will not crank over.

Check the clutch interlock switch attached to the clutch pedal will stop the engine from cranking over.

if it turns over and won't start and you try to restart and it starts....odds are it is the fuel pump

Turn key to on count to 10, turn key back to off then crank er up.
See if that works for you.

 

[Fughuert]

Pull the 10 amp fuse for the interlock in the pdc and see if it persists.
