2004 TJ with RBKv1 radio and no sound

All:

Excuse if this is wrong forum to post...

What I do know about the radio
Is RBK1 not 2
Accepts CD's and loads them but no sound.
Original wiring harness and antenna.
Fuses good
Turning the volume know does not show anything on faceplate
Preset buttons work - search works so faceplate is good.
Ground on hood cleaned before winter.

If it is muted, can it be unmuted? What could be wrong.

I’m not aware of any mute function. Typically the volume adjustment shows up on the display. It’s possible the knob electronics are bad. Is it just CDs? Or do the radio and aux functions (if equipped) also not function?
