2005 Jeep Wrangler Code P0888

Hello Jeep Gang.... Need help figuring this one out, I have a 2005 jeep wrangler manual i am in the process of buying it off the owner but we need it to pass smog. It's currently not passing smog due to this code P0888 i did some digging and turns out that the computer is registering the jeep as an automatic not manual. This p0888 code does not even belong to the jeep. My overall question is does the owner need to buy a new computer for the jeep? or is there a way to reprogram the computer to remove this code for a manual jeep???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What does the green plug look like? Is it empty or pins? The 0888 means the pcm is looking for a tranny that isn’t there.

Empty. As in no green plug at all. There is a slot for it but nothing connected to it.

It sounds like your PCM wasn’t programmed correctly. Is it throwing a check engine light?

Are there any other symptoms such as:

Loss of guages (usually fuel,) stalling while driving or o2 sensor codes?

At first I couldn't get it to turn over. Then my mechanic replaced the crak/cam position sensor. It started up but then died after a few minutes. So he recomend I replace the PCM. I've only driven it a couple of times and it runs great. Check engine light didn't come on and I was only informed of this from the emissions guy at the DMV when he gave me the P0888 error. So do you think I should get back in touch with the PCM company?

So sorry for this super late reply... but unfortunately i had to replace the PCM to my understanding that code is made for automatics not manuals
