2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ build 11-2018

A couple more flex pics from tonight. Can’t get tires even close to the fenders. Did all my work in small garage. Jeep friend just built this shop behind his house. Electrical done soon and lift on the way. Jeep projects are about to get much easier.

YouTube rules as I got this idea from a video. Simple but really cool and useful. Local restaurant did not have dine in today so we did a Jeep thing with my new table. My wife is a respiratory therapist and has 3 12hr shifts ahead this weekend so we really enjoyed a quiet lunch in the shade.

Have not done much to my LJ over past few months other than wheel some in North GA. I did add a Teraflex hand throttle and LCA front skids. . Friend's JKU waiting for new gears, lockers and axles after a trip to www.WindRockPark.com destroyed them all. Added a Truss while waiting for the parts. 4.88 Revolution gears doing great in my LJ w/35's. Around several friends with JKU/JTU with 40's and I think about moving up a tire size then talk myself out of it. Need beadlock wheels and have not purchased because I want to be 100% sure I'm sticking with 35's on 15" wheels. I did just discover Coyote beadlock system and that seems very interesting. Looks like a lot of work up front. www.coyoteents.com/beadlocks/. Oh yea, really glad I took a look at my throttle body before replacing anything else to make LJ run better.

I don't think I have followed up much on the Falcon shocks and Revolution 4.88 gears. I have put over 4,000 miles on the LJ which include 2 trips to Panama City Beach FL (6hrs one way mostly flat some rolling hills) and 2 trips to Smoky Mtn National Park (3hrs one way and heavy elevation with winding roads). That trip would be much more fun in my Gen 1 V. That said I could not be happier with the on and off-road performance and feel of the Falcons. I thought I might be missing out on adjustable but I love not having to touch them especially on wet and muddy trips. My daughter has a 06 LJ as well and I made the mistake (early in the learning process) of putting on Bilstein 5100's. Its like driving two completely different vehicles, will be upgrading hers soon to Falcons. The 4.88 gears are perfect 100% of the time off road and 98% of the time on road. I do have loss of power when I get into the bigger mountains in N GA and TN at 55+ mph and have to down shift to 5th or 4th if very steep hill. Still have 35" tires and still fighting the urge to go bigger now that I have all that room due to the MetalCloak fenders. A couple pics attached. Had to add friends JT with 40's. Will have 42" on it by the end of the week. Makes my LJ look little.

My son needed an AG project for HS and we needed a RTI ramp. Just finished yesterday other than paint. I got up it 95” and stopped to check the LJ and ramp and good thing I did. I will be ordering front brake lines today. Another inch and the right front would have broke. Also proved to me that 35” will be as big as I go because with the MetalCloak fenders I clear 100% front and rear but have maybe 2” of space in rear. This ramp will be another helpful tool for building and testing our Jeep’s.
oh yea back to the 95”. Hopefully once my brake lines are on I can get a few more inches. Hoping for 103” to get me to a score of 1,000. My guess is I won’t quite make it but even here I could not be happier with what I have built. Headed to WindRock later this month.

The next time you get it up on the ramp, take a look at the other side of the one I circled and you'll understand why the squishy factory snubbers are pretty important.

Finally made it to WindRock Park in Oliver Springs TN. What an awesome place. A bit slippery when wet. Can't wait to go back soon. Here are a few pics from the trip last month. Trail 16 at night in the rain was quite the trail ride. I was the only small tire Jeep in the group of 8 with 35". The others were 40", 41" and 43". My LJ went everywhere I took it and did not pull a winch.

Well its been several months since I added anything so escaping the GA heat right now and updating. So bad news good news here as my LJ sat in the garage for a few weeks while I vacationed and some business travel and while I was away my front Falcon shock let some oil out. The good is I called Falcon (Teraflex) and my 12/2018 purchased shocks were covered 100%. I sent it to Utah and it was repaired at no charge and sent back 5 days later. I already loved my falcons now even more. Awesome customer service. I have also FINALLY got rid of the bumpers that came on the Jeep. I really can't believe it took me this long. I picked up some JCR (Made in USA) bumpers that were previously owned but never installed. Added some flush mount Rigid lights to the rear. Also added some rock hard bumper tie- ins and steering box skid. Really happy with the bumpers and much more clearance on the back which I needed. Bead lock wheels are in the garage just need to take the time to get them installed. Oh yea, added some brighter white rock lights too.
