2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 131k miles - Automatic Transmission
The time has come to part with my LJ. It has mostly sat in the garage for the last 5 years and I no longer have the space to keep it stored. The Jeep was originally from Arizona and has no rust on the frame or body. I figured I'd post it up here before listing it locally.
- Hard top and and OEM soft top that is in fair condition.
- 4 inch Rancho Springs.
- Full set of Savvy double adjustable control arms.
- Duratrac 285/75R16 tires on ProComp 1069 wheels.
- Metalcloak front adjustable track bar and JKS rear adjustable track bar track bar.
- Black Maxx shocks.
- Barnes transfer case skid
- SYE and new Tom Woods driveshaft.
- Savvy transfer cable shifter.
- High Pinion Dana 30 front axle (open)
- Dana 44 rear axle with a Powertrax Grip Pro posi.
- 5.13 gears
- Mopar remanufactured PCM
- Morryde spare tire carrier
- JCR rock sliders. (backing plates are powder coated to match the body).
- Bestop HighRock rear bumper with receiver.
- Garvin Industries front bumper with receiver.
- Smittybilt 10k Winch with wireless controller.
-New Summit Drivers seat foam. ( New uninstalled passenger seat foam).
All maintenance has been completed, and all replaced parts are OEM or higher-quality components. The front high pinion axle was fully refreshed with wheel hubs, knuckles, U-joints, and axle seals, along with U-joints in the front driveshaft. Braking performance was upgraded with Black Magic brake pads in the front and Centric pads in the rear. The master cylinder was also replaced at the same time.
The front interior has a BedRug carpet kit and additional heat insulation. A BedTred liner is also installed in the rear, although it is currently covered by the OEM carpet for better sound insulation.
I recently replaced all body mounts and hardware. The cooling system was proactively refreshed with a new Mopar water pump and one of the last available Mopar radiators, despite the original system still functioning properly. I prefer preventative maintenance over waiting for repairs to become necessary. More recently, the entire A/C system was replaced.
Overall, the Jeep is in good condition for its age. As expected for a 20-year-old vehicle, it does have some scratches, minor dings, and the typical “crow’s feet” cracking often seen in black paint, primarily on the hood and driver’s door.
The transmission recently developed a minor leak from the bellhousing area and will occasionally leave a small drop of transmission fluid after driving. I suspect the issue is the front pump seal. Aside from the leak, the transmission shifts and drives well. Since the transmission would need to be removed for repair, I sourced a replacement transmission with approximately 52,000 miles to install instead. I simply have not had the time to complete the swap, but the replacement transmission will be included with the Jeep. There is a vibration from the rear driveshaft at speeds over 60 mph. I either haven't found the right pinion adjustment or the RPM of the 5.13 gears with 33s is just too fast for the driveshaft.
