2029 Wrangler

Well it doesn't really look like a Jeep anymore. So already not a fan. Maybe aimed at the Range Rover crowd. Though I know most of these concept vehicles don't actually happen.

I remember the concept Ford Probe in the late 80's. Looked really cool. Then the actual Probe came out and it looked more like a Toyota Celica. Nothing like the concept.

ah the ford probe - i always liked those, haven't seen one in years

What are the thoughts on the Wrangler Anvil 715? https://moparinsiders.com/jeep-reveals-wrangler-anvil-715-concept-for-easter-jeep-safari/

This is why I have my doubts jeep will be going to some weird new wrangler. Yes it's a concept, but it's got onboard air, 6.4 hemi AANDDDD claims to minimize the amount of unnecessary crap and add-ons. Personally, while it doesn't look like the typical wrangler and almost pulls some toyota vibes, I quite like it. Do I think this look should replace the OG wrangler look? No. But functionally it shows a step in the right direction.

Hello Jeep , 2009 calling . ;)

Fair enough. I feel like the concepts are to throw a bunch of crap at the wall and see what sticks. I feel like this more shows that Jeep still does have their head in the game and won't go to some gay IFS futuristic Wrangler that totally loses their customer base. Maybe when Stellantis had the old CEO, but I would think now they're going to go with something decent. Hopefully they step up their game against the Bronco's. Competition is always good

Jeep has essentially taken the traditional four-door layout and reimagined it into a compact, two-seat off-road machine...
Do these writers even know a damn thing about Jeep? "Traditional four-door layout..." - REALLY?

Both of them need to lose the fucking screen.

I just find it funny because if the V8 crowd wants to trigger the Hurricane crowd, they just refer to it as 'the new I6'. Which the Hurricane crowd will be quick to reply with 'It's NOT new! It's been in the Wagoneer for over a year!'

Uh, that's still pretty new...

Odd that they couldn't figure out an alignment issue. If I had a vehicle like that, always at the dealer, I'd be trading it in pretty quickly too. Of course, my wife wouldn't necessarily agree with that.

Agreed! The pro Hurricane people talk about it like nobody has ever put a turbo in a vehicle before. F150 is in what, gen 3 or 4 of the eco boost?

It's a simple concept: The EPA doesn't like V8's. So they take an I6 and add a turbo. IMO, seems like a great way to increase probability that the vehicle won't last as long and they might be back to trade it in sooner.

As a concept, I like the Hurricane 3.0L, and I say that as someone who daily drives a WK2 with the Hemi V8. Inline-sixes are very linear and smooth in their power delivery, and the twin turbo has low-end torque. I'm pretty familiar with the 3.0L N/A and turbo inline-sixes from BMW, and when you punch it on a HO Hurricane it kinda reminds me of that.

With all that said, I can see the Hurricane being a maintenance nightmare, just like my BMWs. The 3.5 eco boosts are maintenance hogs too as they get older. I love the people who claim the I-6 is "less maintenance" than a V8 due to less moving parts. They clearly have not looked under the hood of a Hurricane powered vehicle to see the spaghetti of hoses and wiring compared to the 5.7L V8.

IFS would be a huge risk for them. Though the Bronco has it and is selling well and seems to be their primary competition right now. I spoke with a friend that is looking for a Bronco for his wife. He said there isn't much stock and they don't want to deal much on pricing. They still only have the 2025 models available, no 2026 yet. So that is odd. Reminds me a covid tactics when they were charging more that MSRP.

Yeah, I know everyone is going to champion what they have. On a simple level, people are going to like the Hurricane 3.0 simply because it's faster. I agree that it might become a maintenance nightmare as it ages. It's still first gen in the Ram. So lets wait 4+ years when many are hitting the 100K mile mark and see how that goes.

I assume they will figure it out. Maybe gen2 of the hurricane will workout a lot of the problems.

Then again, my wife's 2019 Ford Expedition had the cam phasers fail at around 50K miles. Then the trans failed at 55K. If it was up to me, I would've traded it in. My wife is cheap and only thinks about the fact that it's almost paid off, so doesn't want to trade it in.

I've been running around in a newer bronco badlands sasquatch. It's more than enough for the offroading that your average person will do. I've been very impressed with it. A jeep with a lift and a few tasteful mods is going to walk over the bronco, but as a stock unit for the average driver, I love it.

-35's
-lockers front and rear
-Trail turn (brakes the inside wheel, send power to outer)
-Swaybar disconnect
-Running boards are hooked onto rock sliders and are removeable
-2.7 ecoboost... its quick
-Ride is very nice
-cameras mounted looking down at the wheels. I love it, you don't strain your neck looking out the window.

IMO as much as the purist hates the IFS, it was a smart decision for ford to do.

Agreed. IFS is going to give it better handling on the road which is what around 99% would want. Same with Jeep.

I had a 2018 F150 with the 2.7 V6 and I had no complaints. I had it 4 years and it never had a check engine light or a single problem. Now my '23 Ram 1500 has been to the dealer 4 times in the 2 years I've had it, 3 check engine lights for different things. Told my wife I'm going to trade it in if I get another check engine light soon. I'd consider the Ford Bronco as the replacement.

I'd do it honestly. I really really like it. it doesn't flex out too bad either, handles road bumps really nicely. Out west here in MT and AB, the rocky trails can be a little hard to take with solid axle. With this, pop it in baja mode and cruise along

I like the rams better than fords for the 1/2 ton pickups, they just handle nicer. They have got to up the build quality and electronics though. I can't say I've been super pleased with the quality of the new rams. '23 warlock, has infotainment issues, burnt a battery out, couple other little issues. '26 sst, it squeaks and rattles, tailgate feels like plastic. It's quick though and very light on steering.
