Hey all, new here. I have a 2000 wrangler with a 4.0l and it has a hole in the block. I also have a 99 4.0 complete engine that was running with good compression to put in it.
I know the ignition is different but I think I can just swap the cam pos. Sensor piece from the original blown engine for the distributor and make a bracket to mount the coil rail. Also sounds like the 99 head might be better anyways as the '00-'01 were prone to cracking.
Anyone know what is/isn't compatible on these engines or can you help point me to a thread or web page that helps with that?
I've done just about everything on a tj except messed with the engine, they usually just run! I also noticed when looking at gasket kits, the lower end kits go to 99 and have a different part number for '00-'06. From the pics, the rear main looks different. So might just use the 99 lower end, and all 2000 top end if I can.
Plan to do oil pan gasket/rear main while it's out and easy. Any other "must-do's" while both engines are out?
Thanks in advance!
Kyle
