4.0L Performance Help

Mo gear needed, unfortunately for your wallet. Even a 32 won't help much. A 31 would work with the 4.10's.

The 4.0 works well around 2500 @ fwy speeds.

With a hydraulic clutch, does the clutch pedal engage in the same position until it goes out or will the clutch pedal engage higher up as it wears out like the old adjustable type?

Should engage in the same spot. Even when my hydraulic cylinders have gone bad, the clutch still engages at the same spot. The only time that changes is if fluid leaks out and air takes its place. That will definitely alter the position of the clutch engagement.

As mentioned many times, your gearing is your problem. I don't know who decided 4.10 and 33's with the 5-speed is a good combo and started recommending it to everybody, but it isn't.

As far as the gears go, I know they were the wrong choice, that was my falt. They wanted to put in 4:88's.
The clutch question was more of a side question. What you are saying about the hydraulic clutch, well... that's kinda what I was thinking. I got a second opinion at a Jeep dealership on Friday. He took it for a drive and ran it through some rest and said that there is nothing wrong with my clutch. He can tell it's not new but it's working just fine and there is no need to replace it yet. So, based on what you are saying and what the dealership is saying. That transmission shop was just trying to screw me over with unnecessary repairs to take my money.
I just moved to Lebanon MO about a month and a half ago and I'm still trying to fined shops I can trust down here. I think this trany shop is one I'll be staying away from!
I've been drive manual transmissions on and off since I was 16 and only ever had to have 1 clutch replaced in all that time and it wasn't on a hydraulic clutch.
Thanks for getting back to me it really helps. [emoji41]
