4 cylinder engine rattle

I recently purchased a 2006 Wrangler with the 4 cylinder engine. On a cold start it makes a rattling sound almost like a diesel engine. After it runs for a while the noise almost goes away. The Jeep came with a drivetrain warranty and they covered the cost of new lifters. This did not have a significant change to the problem. The only thing they will cover now is any part found defective after I have to pay for the tear down.,
A guy at the Jeep dealership said that the four cylinder was a noisey engine. My question is should I get ugly with the warranty company and the dealer, or is this something I should just ignore? Any advice is greatly appreciated

Get ugly. That's what the warranty is for. Don't let the stealership pull one over on you. Noisey and rattling are two different things.

2.4's and 2.5's shouldn't be noisy. @Rob5589 has an engine like yours. Maybe he'll chime in here. My 2.5 is actually pretty smooth and quiet.

X2 to this. Get nasty... Very nasty. Threaten negative Yelp reviews, bad forum reviews, and even legal counsel if necessary. Do not let them pull one over on you at all. Faced with the possibility of scathing reviews and potential legal issues, they'll cave, I would bet on it.

Figured it would be at least as quiet as my 2.5, and the 2.5 is pretty smooth and quiet for a tractor engine.
