In my introduction thread I posted when I first started hanging out here, I told you that I once had a business as a custom painter. One of the biggest projects I took on was to paint the carbon fiber body of this ProMod. I painted it in 2007 and I've forgotten how many hours I had in it, but it was about 2 weeks worth. I started with a primed body sprayed it House of Kolor silver metallic and then laid out all the graphics and sprayed Kandy colors along with tons of airbrushing...the Mayan jungle and ruins, lightning, drop shadows on all the graphics and hand pin striping and lettering....it was an intense job. I mostly just painted Harley sheet metal and motorcycle helmets. This one took it out of me, crawling around every square inch of this car, multiple times.
This car is now being raced by a team in Norway called Hammer Motorsports. I had lost track of the car around 2009, as it had been sold to someone in Kansas, then to someone in Canada....and now in Norway. I can't recall how I found it again...I was just searching for '41 willys ProMods hoping it turned up, and it did.
I would have thought it would be destroyed by now...a tire blow out or a hard brush on a wall. But, it's still going strong.

Everything on this is painted. Headlights, grill/w the tree frog clinging to it...it's honestly too nice of a job for a race car. I mean, the door jambs have the graphics carried into them and it's cleared and buried and wet sanded and cleared again so no edges can be seen or felt...it's show car quality.
I get asked all the time if I would come out of retirement and pick up an airbrush and spray gun again, but I accomplished what I wanted to and have moved on to other things...plus, nobody wants to pay for work like this when they can just get a wrap. I'm a painter...not a wrapper. LOL!!!
