Good morning Jeep world, I have a 2005 LJ with a 4.0 and a automatic transmission, i have a question to anyone that has a automatic transmission in a like Jeep. I have had this Jeep for about 5 years now and the transmission has all ways slipped a little from reverse to drive. Other than that it works fine, i have replaced the transmission filter and fluid but it still slips. Is this common or do i need to start saving for a new transmission?

@Tim2005LJ, how many miles are on your TJ?
When is the last time you checked your transmission fluid level? Did you check it with the engine running or with the engine off? What type of fluid did you use in it?
I check it every 3,000 miles when i change the oil, and the engine is running with the transmission in neutral. i'm not sure what type was used when i had the transmission serviced. I have 125000 mils on the jeep but its been slipping ever since i got it 5 years ago with about 50000 miles on it.
I would make 100% certain it’s using the correct fluid. If not, that could be your issue right there. Best to rule out the simplest things first.
